We came here for a girls' night and arrived around 8:30 p.m. Thankfully it wasn't packed that we got seated right away. The decor is light and fun overall. Immediately upon being seated we received our chips and salsa which were fresh and crunchy and the salsa had the right amount of heat.

Our waiter Lucas came to get our drink orders and at the same time we ordered guac. Two of us ordered the mango frozen margaritas and while this shouldn't be a complaint, but the only thing you tasted was the tequila. It defeats the purpose of ordering a flavored beverage.

We got our drinks about 10 minutes after we ordered them and at that time we put our food order in. That was the last of food or drink that we received for an hour. Our table was right on the corner when you walked in the room and Lucas ignored us the entire time and proceeded to other tables. We weren't offered any water and after 35 minutes we still had no guac so as he was passing us (for the 100th time) I had to stop him and ask for it. It still took another 10 minutes. A good solid other half hour passed before we got our food, while tables around us (who had been seated and ordered after us) got their food. By the time our food came, we needed refills. Lucas didn't even check on us when the food came out to see how it was or if we needed anything. I assume the older gentleman walking around was the owner or manager so I stopped him to let him know we never got offered water and needed drink refills. We got water in no time but weren't asked what drinks we wanted. He must have told Lucas, who 10 minutes came back with new drinks. We would have liked to been asked though because we all didn't want the same drinks we had previously ordered.

Aside from the terrible service and HOUR wait to get our food, the food here is delicious. We would consider giving this place another chance because of the food -- but I definitely wouldn't want to be seated in Lucas' section again.

My husband and I moved away from Hoboken over 20 years ago. The neighborhood's changed a lot since then, but we were happy to find during a recent holiday visit that one of our favorite restaurants Baja has not. Still lots of great food and great people. Our server/bartender Lucas (aka "not Drake") served up some great margaritas and the chips and salsa were as good as ever. We ordered our go-to appetizer, jalapeño rellenos stuffed with shrimp, which was still excellent. And the steak fajitas were still fantastic. The owner has been there 26 years. He knows his food! So if you're in the mood for Mexican, Baja is the place to go.

Strong recommendation for people visiting NYC. Location is close to the best view on whole Manhattan.
Dish is great mexican food, especially have to mention the perfect beef. Complementary nachos up front, nice service and a warm ambience completes the great experience.

The highlights for us when we stopped here in the late afternoon on a hot summer day were the cold margaritas and the house made guacamole with nachos. I'd go back for those. The jalapeño poppers and the chicken quesadilla both lacked zip, surprisingly, so we were somewhat disappointed in those.
