Someone recommended it to as like little cute place with a lot of charm and character.
Won't be arguing about charm, but that was about it. Coming to small and authentic place like that you expect attitude that is little different then fast food counter on big faceless shopping mall, but well, the girl there had just that "what ever" look on her face as we were slightly confused over menu and ask her about it. Empanadas and some dessert that we had were not that good, and also overpriced. Plus as being there we were witnessing like the same girl at the counter was trying to overcharge someone... We left that place wanting more... Well, may be our choice was not right at the moment, but I will not come back just to try it again, as the atmosphere did not appear too welcoming.

Zafra is a longtime favorite of ours. The service is friendly and food authentic. Make sure you go early or be prepared to wait for a table. Some favorites are: yuca fritas, meatball appetizer, camarone coloradito, chicken mole, anticuchos, although we have yet to find anything bad on the menu. Be adventurous and select something new! I also highly recommend the spicy orange drink, made with fresh squeezed orange juice and chilies.

I think that Zafra, and its brother Cucharamama one block away, are the best restaurants in Hoboken, They are the only ones that provide something different in the city, including different food (Cuban, latin American), service (very friendly and atmosphere (very typical). Zafra is the most informal restaurant of the two, with no liquor license (very convenient to be able to bring your own bottle)

Every single dish is delicious, and the prices are very accessible.

That little joint is an oasis for latin-american style food. Very relax setting with a sample of several south of the border countries. My pesonal best is the empanadas appetizer, and the cubano sandwich which is for me better than any have eaten even in miami ( yes, including la carreta which is a classic down there). Worth the trip if you like that specialty. Under 10 bucks.
