After visiting a friend, we returned to our hometown, Ho-Ho-Kus, to have an early dinner before driving for another 2 hours. The staff was very accommodating to our time requirements. The food was excellent, the service a little on the pretentious side, and in total a very pleasant early Friday dinner. We look forward to returning at a later hour and leisurely enjoy a pleasant evening. Although the food was well done, there seemed to be a concerted effort to be more "up-scale" than the value offered.

One of the better upscale restaurants in the area, with a limited but varied menu. They take and honor reservations. The wait staff is attentive, helpful and not pushy. It is an interesting place with a very comfortable --but noisy-- interior. Go for the specials; like most good restaurants, there's always something different on a given night. Prices are up there, but worth it.. To avoid the noise, avoid Saturday night.

We visited on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. It has a good varied menu with plenty of choice. Overall the food quality was very good. The service was attentive but not pushy. I will certainly return.

We ate at St. Eve's on a Saturday night with another couple. This was our third time at the restaurant and we were disappointed to say the least. Two out of the three specials were already sold out even though our reservation was for 6:45pm! The waiter insisted on our order before 7pm even though we were enjoying our wine and catching up. We ordered appetizers, salad and dessert and at 8:15 a lady tapped us on the shoulder and told we needed to leave because they needed our table. Each dish arrived before we even finished the prior course. For the price and the upscale nature of the place, we should not have been treated this way. We will not be eating here again any time soon.

I've been to St. Eve's a few times now, and I must say, I'm never disappointed! Food is great, service is great, wait staff is very friendly, and a great environment. It's has a NYC restaurant look, but in the suburbs. I'd say this is my favorite restaurant in NJ. I usually get the scallops when I go, along with the greens salad. Both an excellent choice. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone! It's BYOB, but luckily there is a liquor store next store, so it's still convenient.
