Description: BYOB located in Ho-ho-kus, New Jersey. Chef Steven Christianson formerly of the Citrus Grille in Airmont, NY.

Chef / Owner Steven Christianson's creativity shines at this upscale BYOB. Four of us ate there on a Saturday evening. It was very busy and the noise level was high, (the atmosphere reminded me of restaurants in NY city). Our waiter (Pat) was great and made us feel very welcome. We all ordered different dishes so we could taste each other's food. I chose one of the specials; boneless chicken leg stuffed with cognac mousse and chicken breast, poached in a delicious sauce. It was incredibly good! Other dishes we sampled were the beef shortribs, the veal stuffed ravioli and the hangar steak, all of which were equally delicious. The salads and vegetables were fresh and perfectly prepared. We had a wonderful meal and a really nice evening. Will definitely go back.
If you go, please note that the entrance to the restaurant is at the REAR of the buiding (there is no front door). Plenty of parking and a liquor store conveniently located next door.

What a pleasant surprise to find such a gem so close to home! We were warmly greeted and promptly seated, the wait staff is friendly and professional - not what you usually encounter here in the burbs. ...and the food offered was wonderfully different and delicious. I had the chicken spring rolls for appetizer- outstanding, then the hangar steak for entree- again, just delicious. Lastly, the chocolate soufflé cake for dessert... another winner. The room does fill up and is quite loud at full volume, but that is hardly a reason to avoid this fabulous dining experience. I am delighted to add St. Eves to my list of "go-to" restaurants.
Hint: the entrance and a small parking lot is in the rear of the building!

From beginning to end, our experience at St. Eve's was perfection. Based on the other reviews, we decided to make reservations for a Saturday night. The decor of the restaurant is very charming. The service was attentive but not pushy. We never felt rushed. We started with the veal ravioli special as an appetizer. It was served in a spicy red sauce with a Canadian lobster claw on top. Delicious! I had the diver scallops with mushrooms and my husband had the hanger steak. My meal was one of the best I ever had. The scallops were very creamy and smooth tasting. It's a shame we were too full to sample dessert because there were some intriguing options. My only complaint is that the food seemed overpriced for the portion size. Three diver scallops were $30. You could order a half portion, but I'm curious as to what that would look like. Regardless, this is a great place and we'll be back again!

It's too bad the blonde woman/person at the front can determine how your night goes!! She's was so rude from the moment we walked in. Told us we had to wait with a rese and more than 2 tables open at 8;30. Asked for the table by the window and she said that's for 4 people and we were only 2!!! So she sat us at a 2 by 4 table on the wall and the table by the window sat empty until 10:00 and then a table next to it was placing there wine bottles there.... That was more important than the couple that spent the day in Columbia hospital with a pancreatic cancer family member! Will NEVER BE BACK! Hope wine bottles leave a better tip!!!

We began coming to St. Eve's shortly after it opened and keep returning. We really enjoy everything about it: fabulous food, beautiful decor, wonderful service and owners Steve & Judi are great. We love BYOBs so when combined with the food and ambiance, we couldn't ask for anything better. We really enjoy early dinners on Sundays when it is less of a tumult and we can really unwind.
