Duke Farm is a vast and beautifully maintained ecological gem and a tribute to Doris Dukes' desire to preserve natural beauty. The property is financed by the foundation and does not charge an admission or parking fee. After parking in the unpaved lot, you can visit the information center or head down the driveway for the main walking area. There is a crossing guard to assist visitors safely across the rural street - not much traffic to contend with but the guard is always there. This is a spectacular location to leisurely stroll, walk, run, ride a bike or any combination - quiet and serene. Some of the wonderful things to see are the orchid greenhouse, pet cemetery, hay barn ruins with its magnificent statuary, along with several buildings, vast flowered meadows with ponds. The trails are easy to navigate whether walking, riding a bike, or pushing a baby stroller - a tram is available, if needed. There are portable bathrooms at various locations and they are clean and also well maintained. This is a true gem to visit and, if you are lucky enough to live close enough for repeat visits, this is a marvelous place to bring a lunch and lounge chair and spend lazy summer days in quiet contemplation or passive activites such as reading.

Just to go on a nice drive, Duke Farms and Park is always a great place to go and look around . The history behind Duke Farms is fascinating yet sad, but thank god this historic site has been kept alive.

We finally got out to visit Duke's farm. It was well worth the trip. It is a beautiful wooded park that is great for leisurely walk. The locals use it for hiking and bike riding. There is tram that takes around the farm. Be sure to stop at the greenhouse with its amazing orchids.

Doris Duke was an eccentric and an icon. What she id in life inluding what she made of this land bought by her wealthy fathers 100 or so years ago stands out so well. After her passing, her estate used the endowment to make this an even richer natural pace for the community, the state and for generations. Pay a visit.

We have been to many New Jersey parks and this one is easily the finest. We expect to return here 4 to 6 times a year during all seasons. We were blown away by the trails. On our first visit we road bikes and we expect to walk many of the trails in the future. We were able to see the daily waterfall at 12:30 for 10 minuets and we went through the orchid conservatory. If you like walking or biking through a park with lots of water features this is the place. We went on a warm fall day and the large parking lot was full when we left at 3 PM. We hope to get back there again on the last weekend in October, so we can see the tree colors before it is too late. I am sure we will be thinking about going back to this park all winter long.
