Decided to stop for an unofficial end of summer out at the shore. This rather small looking place plays it big. Craft Beer selection and Wine were both good.
Indoor and Outdoor seating for nice days, and evenings are available. Family, Romantic, and Sports fans can all be at home. The food. A Jersey shore evening, and Seafood is a must, this place, didn't disappoint. Tastes and Spices were Great, and the menu covers it all, from Seafood soups, Wings, Burgers, Steak, Salads, and many Seafood selections, Dinner was very good, and the service was friendly. It's Jersey Shore, so casual is in. A view of Sandy Hook, and the Ocean too, this place sits on Rt 36, right under the Highlands Twin Lights. Definitely a Jersey Diamond.

With a Decent selection of Beer, and Wines, the food was Really good, and the prices reasonable too. Everything from Burgers and wings, to some Excellently prepared Seafood, and you get your money's worth. Outside, and indoor seating, on a nice day, a Great view of Sandy Hook waters, Just underneath the Highlands Twin Lights.

Off the Hook has a great water view of the Shrewsbury river and Sandy Hook park. This casual tavern has a nice private room upstairs where our group of 26 enjoyed friendly and efficient service for bar orders and a delicious buffett dinner. Kim was very helpful planning the event and offering flexibility in food and beverage selections. Our planning session lunches were also very fresh and tasty.

We went the other day and sat outside for dinner. Unfortunately, for a good part of the deck, the view of the NYC skyline is obstructed by trees and the condo's across the street. But you do get a view of the ocean and the route 36 bridge. The drinks were good and reasonably priced - but the food was really not good. I kept my expectations low and that was what I got. I ordered the Island Chicken "a blend of tropical flavors including rum and pineapple juice, served with rice." It was two thin and bland chicken breasts with some kind of pre-made syrupy sauce on top and what tasted like minute rice on the side. My wife got the grouper - which to their credit, was cooked perfectly, but the breading was flavorless and the same minute rice.
My advice - go for a few drinks and some appetizers but that is about all I can recommend.
