Twin Lights is one of our favorite places to visit as a family. After climbing the stairs and enjoying the spectacular views from the top, we usually have a picnic lunch in the little park area surrounding the building. It is so beautiful and peaceful, it simply cannot be beat! We have taken many friends here too, who visit us from out of town/state/country. They all love it. On a clear day, you can see the Manhattan skyline- so pretty, the ocean and Sandy Hook are right there too. :)
The little adjoining museum is interesting as well and the original lens (huge and still revolving in the museum next door) is impressive!
It is important to note that only the North Tower is open for visits throughout the year. They open the South Tower only one weekend a year during what is known as the Lighthouse Challenge. It usually takes place in mid October- you will have to call Twin Lights or check website for the exact dates every year. Definitely worth a visit!

You MUST stop and take a look. The view from the top of the Twin Lights is GREAT! BUT, the stairs are very steep and narrow. If your a big person like me it's a tight squeeze.

This is a very interesting and historic landmark. The road getting up there is a bit narrow and steep - but once you are there you are at the highest point along the eastern shore of the USA. The view from there is amazing - some great views of Sandy Hook as well as the NYC skyline. It also has a very interesting museum and how the Twin Lights played a part in maritime history and their uses in the wars.

This is just one of those places that you have to see. I love all things historic so to me it is almost like you are there when you see places built and made the way twin lights is

This is a true Historical Treasure not to be missed. You can climb the winding steps to the top of one of the towers. Views are amazing! The museum is excellent with everything well presented. There is a small gift shop, but no food service. Take a picnic lunch and sit outdoors to enjoy this amazing, peaceful location on one of the highest points along the Atlantic coast.
