“So lucky to find this place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

My husband and I decided to check out this restaurant last summer, thinking we might get a good "roadside" meal - a tasty hamburger, maybe a nice salad. We were completely surprised by the quality of the food, the friendliness of the service, and the creativity of the menu! And, by the way, it was the best hamburger we have had in a very, very, very long time - really! We returned the next week, and it has become a destination restaurant for us. The menu changes every week, and some favorites (delicious mussels, hamburger, caesar salad, cheescake) remain the same. There are sliders (again, changing every week) that nearby diners have raved about, but so far I haven't gotten around to trying them - must do that! There is a bar area, and the special apple martini is quite remarkable. In the summer, there is a deck on the lake, and boats pull up to dock so that all passengers on board can have a fine lunch. Sometimes there is live music out on the sandy beach, and everyone (including children) are encouraged to dance. The decor is very interesting, with serious art on the walls -- and again, I must mention the food -- so excellent!!! I am giving this restaurant a "5" because the food is so good, the prices are so reasonable, the setting is so beautiful, and the service is so friendly.

Chef Jay has a noble task of trying to turn a sleepy lakeside malaise into a foodie destination, and I believe he is succeeding. Real neat choices and kitchen risks for West Milford jet ski/ quad/ dirtbike/ pick-up crowd who nonetheless venture here for frogs legs Provencal... Really?! This is NOT the Saddle River Inn, but Chef DOES have them coming and indeed raving. The food consistently improves and it is a great spot to pull up your ski or quad and yes even the snowmoblie in winter if the lake freezes! Check it out with an open mind!
