“Perfect Mother's Day”

Along with our teenagers we all enjoyed the day walking thru the grounds and coming upon both large and smaller unexpected sculptures. Bring some water and snacks since it can be a long day, but if you're game for a lot of walking through the grass and hills you'll be rewarded with a great day. Other times we've been have been cooler, and the two story warming hut by the lake is a nice touch. The small cafe out on the grounds has some interesting foods, and Rat's is a real gastro foodie restaurant if you're looking for a finer meal.

Basically, these are beautiful gardens showcasing modern art. But, there are lots of twists. The gardens have little by-ways, bridges, doors to be opened and magical paths to be taken. And as you go along you find sculptures -- sometimes hidden or obscured, waiting for discovery. The works of founder Seward Johnson are fascinating and lots of fun because they are three dimensional reproductions of Impressionist paintings well- known and loved. We were with a group and had arranged a tour which was informative and helpful, especially when viewing some of the art. However, with the Printed guide provided it is possible to just stroll and take in the ambience of the place without a tour guide's details.
The restaurant is a bit pricey but the food was good and the service attentive. And, considering the modest cost of admission it was worth staying on the grounds for a second look.
I think wheelchairs and strollers might be difficult to navigate here.

“A Must for Art Lovers”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Most amazing garden, a must for art lovers. Seward Johnson made wonderful sculptures as an homage to the most famous French impressionist painters. The 2 diminutions pictures displayed in 3 dimensions. You can stroll around the grounds for a few hours and enjoy some modern sculpture of artists from all around the world. Highly recommended!

“A love affair”

I have been coming here for the past 15 years. At first it was free, I am happy to pay the small entrance fee today. This place is an absolute treasure. It is constantly evolving and it is a treat to go back each time to see what has changed.

This stunning sculpture park is not to be missed. Plan a full day to wander the grounds, then be sure to eat at Rat's Restaurant. Their food and service is out of this world.
