The food is homemade and very good. Service is fast and the waitresses, who know almost everyone who comes in, are terrific.
It's a bit small and the tables are tight but it is well worth going there---you'll laugh a lot with the waitresses and have a grand breakfast, lunch or dinner.

“Terrible service (unless you're a local, apparently)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

Date of visit: Sunday 8/14, 11am-ish

Food: 3/5. Better than average, but not fantastic. I had the #5 special, which was two eggs (scrambled) over corned beef hash with (over-cooked) home fries, juice and coffee. The food was good, but the coffee was excellent.

Décor: 4/5. Clean, but old and eclectic. The coffee mugs don’t match (see pic of Land O’ Lakes coffee mug) and the place looks kitschy, but their décor isn’t what draws people. It is endearing and I can see why it’s popular with the locals. Most of the wait staff seemed to know half of the customers in there (I saw several stop to greet people that weren’t at tables they were waiting on)

Service/wait staff: 2/5. We had several issues:
1.) Waited in the entryway while several members of the wait staff looked at us and then walked by to go chit-chat with customers. There was no friendly “hi! I’ll be right with you!” or “let me just clear off a table”. It wasn’t a ‘please seat yourself’ situation, so we waited. There were empty tables that needed to be bussed, as well as the one that we were ultimately seated at (which was already set up before we even walked in the door), but it seemed to be top priority for the waitresses to stand around gabbing with people instead.

2.) It wasn’t clear who our waitress was. We were seated by a young man, who gave us menus. A young blond woman came to see if we wanted coffee. Then, a brunette woman came and took our order. The blond woman brought us our food. The brunette refilled our coffee (only once, and well in advance of me really needing/wanting a refill that I then was never able to get). The blond woman took our plates while she was bussing the next table over, and then… nothing. For fifteen minutes. I swear we sat there fully ignored (with empty coffee mugs.. so it’s not like it looked like we were lingering) for fifteen minutes before I actually went over to the counter and asked the guy who had seated us if he could get our check. From when we finished eating/had our plates taken to when we actually got the check was just about as long as it took us to wait to be seated, order and eat. TERRIBLE service.

We’re from out of town and had stopped at Granny’s based on the suggestion of a local family member, who frequents Granny’s on a regular basis. We left disappointed and feeling like we couldn’t possibly have been to the same place he raves about. We aren’t likely to go back unless he asks us to go with him. Perhaps if we had a local face with us we’d have received better service!

“Pancake Joint: Good food and super staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2011

We were here for breakfast from Mineral Springs Resort in Vernon, which is about ten minutes away. We were two adults and six children, yet they didn't blink an eye when we came in. The decor is barely decor; it's frayed around the edges; but it is what it is: a pancake joint. Lots of regulars there. The food was delicious and the waitresses were very accomodating to all of us and especailly the kids. The waitresses were also very funny, and provided good service with the laughs.
