“Excellent escape”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

You can't believe you are in New Jersey when visiting this piece of heaven. The views are remarkable. The restaurants are amazing. The outdoor cabana beds, firepits at night and the pools are just captivating. So much for the kids to do or for just a romantic escape. Never feels overcrowded and nice to not have any rift raft guests anywhere. Purely top of the line experience. Went in June 2013 and going back in August 2013. This time staying in the 2 bedroom Angel Falls suite, which there is only 2 rooms in the hotel like this. Looking forward to it.

My Husband and I had a wonderful time staying two nights at the Grand Cascades Lodge. The accomodations and amenities are wonderful and top notch! We had a great time playing golf and relaxing in each of the three pools. I have to say what sets Grand Cascades apart, is not they amazing scenery, comfortable accomodations, spa, pools, etc., it is the staff. Mrs. Donna Arrigo took such good care of my husband and I, I felt like we were royalty. Her hospitality is so warm and inviting and she will go to the ends of the earth to make sure you are happy. With the lack of customer service now a days, Donna was a breath of fresh air. Thankfully, I believe she does the training for a lot of the other staff there as well, because everyone we met was so nice and accomodating. Thanks Donna! We can't wait to go back up to the lodge and see you again!

Was there for a company retreat. Rooms are large with a full kitchen in their suites, though useless for a company retreat. Property is extremely spread out, so be prepared to walk. Was not able to try the acclaimed restaurant, but did have several visits to the bar, with New York City prices. Beer - $7.00, wine - $12.00. And to top it all off, on one tab they added and extra $20 to an 18% tip! This was on June 16 and two calls to accounting were unanswered. Just talked to the front desk manager and she promised to call me back, so we'll see. Not overly impressed at this point with customer service after the stay.

The rooms have a fairly rustic look and, considering the cost, kind of cheap looking. Shower stalls have solid panels in them, so when you're in the shower you cannot see into the room. Deadbolt would not engage on the door, so security was provided by the old-time chain. Relly need improvements.

Room Tip: Property is really large. Be prepared to walk.

Dear OhToBeInSanDiego,

Thank you for visiting our resort and although it was for business, we hope that you enjoyed some of our leisure amenities to unwind and relax. We have a lot to offer, especially in the warm Summer months. Based on the number of reviews you have posted, I think that it is fair to say that you have done a bit of traveling and have experienced many different hotels and resorts. Feedback from an experienced traveler means a lot to us, and I appreciate you taking the time to share some comments. I was disappointed to read that there was a discrepancy with a restaurant charge during your stay, but moreover, that you contacted us to rectify the mistake, and it was not promptly handled by our staff. Thank you for your patience. We hope that you will have an opportunity to stay with us again, and we have great discounts for returning corporate guests. Thank you again for your post!

Although i did not stay here overnight and cannot speak for the rooms, i fully enjoyed a day out here. The moment you enter the long windy golf course lined road you feel the stress fall away. This is an excellent mini break.Valets make you feel welcome as you arrive. There is no stuffiness here that you find at most clubs - weather you arrive in a beat up old Toyota or fancy new Porsche the warm welcome all around is the same. The lodge itself is huge and the colors are all gold and honey and very warm. The cleanliness was supreme all throughout the hotel as well as gardens, pools, and restaurants.
Everyone is friendly and honestly care about how you are doing.
the atrium and indoor pool area is beautiful , restful and enjoyable for adults and kids alike.
We had lunch at the Crystal tavern which is decorated beautifully. Huge fireplaces, stone work and massive leather chairs to sink into while you take in the expansive mountain view from glass windows. Wow ! what a place to eat in. Service is fast and friendly and oh my , the food is for lack of a better word - amazing! Fresh ingredients from local farms are cooked to perfection. I had a roasted beet, goat cheese, avacado and roasted pepper sandwich on a housemade croissant. I really have not tasted a croissant like that in a long time it was so authentically French. My husband had lamb kebobs with a mint couscous which was spot on in flavors.lunch prices are very reasonable - a sandwich and entree without drinks cost only $28 with tax most things on the menu were less than $20.the atmosphere is what is best. However i would have enjoyed some music in common areas as well as restaurant.
The Golf courses are beautifully maintained as well as the gardens and seating areas. Other restaurants looked lovely , but were not open for lunch on the day i went( friday) i would have liked to eat at chefs garden or Bistro. Just being at Crytsal springs resort for a couple of hours was therapy for the soul. I highly recommend a visit here in any season.

Wow - what a wonderful find - just one hour from NYC -- fantastic hotel, restaurant, spa and golf! We were looking for a nice golf course for a short overnight stay - a fathers day treat - and we found this place and wanted to check it out. We booked a one night stay in one of the 1 bedroom suites - - fairly spacious and comfortable, nice kitchen, comfortable bed, patio, spacious bathroom. We came for the golf and my husband and sons enjoyed two days - two courses -- the resort has 7 course. They really enjoyed Wild Turkey golf course. While they were golfing, I enjoyed the Spa - very nice service and environment - and quite reasonable (especially in comparison with other places we have been recently). For Dinner we dined at Latour - fabulous food and service. All in all a fabulous spot -- especially for golfers. All the staff is really nice and helpful.

Stayed here for a wedding (as I am sure most of the people staying here are) and we really enjoyed the stay; facilities were exceptional especially if you like the spa or are a golfer, and the grounds themselves are beautiful as well. If you have a family or are staying for a week or more I highly recommend one of the larger rooms that has a kitchen very spacious bathroom, living room and balcony. Otherwise, the standard rooms are just ok, I could not believe the contrast between a standard room and the one bedroom apartment type suites.

I am only giving this resort 4 stars because the rooms themselves were just so-so and I think needed a facelift. The food options also were not that great; only one restaurant was open for breakfast and lunch and if you are staying there for a longer period of time some variety would have been nice particularly as you are not near to any town or city. I could see that having a wedding here would be amazing but if you are coming here for a relaxing retreat I would suggest the off-season as the resort was also quite crowded and the spa was almost overflowing with wedding traffic. I would love to come back here in the winter and enjoy a different experience at this resort.

Dear CJS07,

Thank you for visiting Grand Cascades Lodge as a recent wedding guest. We appreciate your comments are glad that you enjoyed your stay. It is true, the difference between our suites and our standard room are pretty dramatic, but the price difference is relatively small--only $30 more right now for our Studio Suite. For leisure guests staying for longer than just one night, it is well worth the upgrade! Our rooms have a rustic, antique decor, but currently we are in the process of updating our bedding with a more modern look. Although we have fewer dining options available on property mid-week and off season, there are other restaurants available within a short drive and our shuttle is available to all guests to provide your transportation. We also recommend contacting the concierge before your arrival so that she can assist you with your dining plans before you check-in. Winter is a great time to visit our resort for skiing and snowboarding or for relaxing in the tropical Biosphere pool. We look forward to your return, and thank you again for posting!

Just a short drive from NYC we found paradise!! One of the most spectacular wine cellars in the world sits below this gem of a resort. The rooms were incredible and we were able to play some of the best golf in NJ. We then spent time at the biosphere pool and felt like we were in the Caribbean. The SPA was incredible and we topped it off with a 5 star amazing dinner at Latour.
Not sure anywhere in the Northeast can too this experience! Don't miss this!!

Room Tip: The suites are a must!
