“Wonderful ambience all around - a mini break”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Although i did not stay here overnight and cannot speak for the rooms, i fully enjoyed a day out here. The moment you enter the long windy golf course lined road you feel the stress fall away. This is an excellent mini break.Valets make you feel welcome as you arrive. There is no stuffiness here that you find at most clubs - weather you arrive in a beat up old Toyota or fancy new Porsche the warm welcome all around is the same. The lodge itself is huge and the colors are all gold and honey and very warm. The cleanliness was supreme all throughout the hotel as well as gardens, pools, and restaurants.
Everyone is friendly and honestly care about how you are doing.
the atrium and indoor pool area is beautiful , restful and enjoyable for adults and kids alike.
We had lunch at the Crystal tavern which is decorated beautifully. Huge fireplaces, stone work and massive leather chairs to sink into while you take in the expansive mountain view from glass windows. Wow ! what a place to eat in. Service is fast and friendly and oh my , the food is for lack of a better word - amazing! Fresh ingredients from local farms are cooked to perfection. I had a roasted beet, goat cheese, avacado and roasted pepper sandwich on a housemade croissant. I really have not tasted a croissant like that in a long time it was so authentically French. My husband had lamb kebobs with a mint couscous which was spot on in flavors.lunch prices are very reasonable - a sandwich and entree without drinks cost only $28 with tax most things on the menu were less than $20.the atmosphere is what is best. However i would have enjoyed some music in common areas as well as restaurant.
The Golf courses are beautifully maintained as well as the gardens and seating areas. Other restaurants looked lovely , but were not open for lunch on the day i went( friday) i would have liked to eat at chefs garden or Bistro. Just being at Crytsal springs resort for a couple of hours was therapy for the soul. I highly recommend a visit here in any season.

Wow - what a wonderful find - just one hour from NYC -- fantastic hotel, restaurant, spa and golf! We were looking for a nice golf course for a short overnight stay - a fathers day treat - and we found this place and wanted to check it out. We booked a one night stay in one of the 1 bedroom suites - - fairly spacious and comfortable, nice kitchen, comfortable bed, patio, spacious bathroom. We came for the golf and my husband and sons enjoyed two days - two courses -- the resort has 7 course. They really enjoyed Wild Turkey golf course. While they were golfing, I enjoyed the Spa - very nice service and environment - and quite reasonable (especially in comparison with other places we have been recently). For Dinner we dined at Latour - fabulous food and service. All in all a fabulous spot -- especially for golfers. All the staff is really nice and helpful.

Stayed here for a wedding (as I am sure most of the people staying here are) and we really enjoyed the stay; facilities were exceptional especially if you like the spa or are a golfer, and the grounds themselves are beautiful as well. If you have a family or are staying for a week or more I highly recommend one of the larger rooms that has a kitchen very spacious bathroom, living room and balcony. Otherwise, the standard rooms are just ok, I could not believe the contrast between a standard room and the one bedroom apartment type suites.

I am only giving this resort 4 stars because the rooms themselves were just so-so and I think needed a facelift. The food options also were not that great; only one restaurant was open for breakfast and lunch and if you are staying there for a longer period of time some variety would have been nice particularly as you are not near to any town or city. I could see that having a wedding here would be amazing but if you are coming here for a relaxing retreat I would suggest the off-season as the resort was also quite crowded and the spa was almost overflowing with wedding traffic. I would love to come back here in the winter and enjoy a different experience at this resort.

Dear CJS07,

Thank you for visiting Grand Cascades Lodge as a recent wedding guest. We appreciate your comments are glad that you enjoyed your stay. It is true, the difference between our suites and our standard room are pretty dramatic, but the price difference is relatively small--only $30 more right now for our Studio Suite. For leisure guests staying for longer than just one night, it is well worth the upgrade! Our rooms have a rustic, antique decor, but currently we are in the process of updating our bedding with a more modern look. Although we have fewer dining options available on property mid-week and off season, there are other restaurants available within a short drive and our shuttle is available to all guests to provide your transportation. We also recommend contacting the concierge before your arrival so that she can assist you with your dining plans before you check-in. Winter is a great time to visit our resort for skiing and snowboarding or for relaxing in the tropical Biosphere pool. We look forward to your return, and thank you again for posting!

Just a short drive from NYC we found paradise!! One of the most spectacular wine cellars in the world sits below this gem of a resort. The rooms were incredible and we were able to play some of the best golf in NJ. We then spent time at the biosphere pool and felt like we were in the Caribbean. The SPA was incredible and we topped it off with a 5 star amazing dinner at Latour.
Not sure anywhere in the Northeast can too this experience! Don't miss this!!

Room Tip: The suites are a must!

I was very happily surprised with this beautiful getaway in NJ. The hotel is beautiful, they have many great restaurants, great amenities (golf, biosphere/rain-forest-like pool) and fabulous views. Our room was really nice with a full kitchen and lovely patio. They have a lot of themed weekends which I intend to get to here and there. I think the website really does not do it justice. I would absolutely go back!

My fiance and I have stayed at this lodge a few times our last stay was terrible.. We booked a one bedroom suite & was given a studio room without any reasons to why. We didn't realize it until we got in our room. We go back to the front desk and they tell us the resort is booked. I'm confused because they charged us for a one bedroom suite but give us another thats at least $100 cheaper and thought it was ok. We're told that they' ll take off $30 for the night and give us our room the next day. We didn't get the room until 3pm so that's almost our whole Saturday and we went for the weekend. I was so disappointed. After going back and forth with the mgr they knocked off a $100 of the bill which at that point the money didn't matter my weekend was shot. I was annoyed even after our massage. Even after all that we decided to give it another try, well we didn't even get to book room before we had issues. The online price for the room was 436.50 i decided to call instead to make sure they know to give us the correct room when we get there. I get Rachel on the phone who sounded annoyed at hello. I told her i wanted a 1 bedroom suite she quoted $525 a night i explained i saw it online for less she blurted out thats impossible theres no way our rooms are priced that low and proceeded to tell me i must be looking at the wrong room like i'm stupid. I told her thanks and hung up. My husband called 2 hours later to book thinking it was an error & he was quoted a price of $650 per night they claim the prices of the room change. Really?? We gave up and decided to go to Puerto Rico for 4 days at a nice resort flight included way cheaper than Grand cascade. They are crooks, its sad because it wasn't always that way.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. We make every effort to make our booking process as easy as possible and our billing clear and concise, both online and with our call center agents. We have a variety of different suites available at Grand Cascades Lodge, and I am glad that our managers were available to help you with the issue you experienced during your previous stay. It is true that our rates do change from day to day based on our availability. The rates you were quoted look to be rates for one of our inclusive packages. I would be eager to help investigate some of the discrepancies you noted, and encourage you to contact the resort so that our front office managers can further assist you. Thank you again.

We enjoyed a lovely Memorial Day weekend ....very close to home! The treatments at the spa were very special. We loved our room......anything that we asked for was handled within minutes. We dined at 3 of the four restaurants and were very pleased. Everyone on staff from the front desk to concierge to valet were friendly and helpful.
This was our second visit and we plan to return next year same time! We would also love to spend time here with family.....lots around for kids to do......but great for us as a couple to just be away!

Room Tip: We like a view of the mountains overlooking the garden and pool.
