“What Happened??”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Not too long ago, you were able to get a pretty decent meal here and at a good price. But now, it is just awful. Onion soup tasted like seasoned water with a glob of horrible cheese on top. Crab cake sandwich, which at one time was pretty tasty, was overdone and tiny on a big stale roll. And it seems that hot food always comes to the table cold. This place needs a deep clean because it seems like everything is sticky, from the floor, the seats, to the table. Service is slow and the waitstaff seem to want to be anywhere but there. Really, it is a shame because this restaurant has the ambiance but is totally lacking when it comes to the food and cleanliness.

“Slowly going down the drain”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

Visiting this place for quite some years it is a pity to see it going down the drain. Is the food terrible? No. Is the service bad? No. But there is so much more that is at a much lower level than it was some time ago.
To our opinion the quality of the food is declining compared to what we once experienced. French Fries nothing special not even average, crab cake sandwich we tastes many better, ribs still okay but 50% more expensive than 3 years ago, and so on and so on. The portions are getting smaller, especially for take out orders but THE PRICES ARE GOING UP.
The wrapping of the take out orders or doggy bags has also changed. Polystrene in the beginning and now paper stuff.
We realize that everybody has a different idea about going to a place as P.J. Whelihan but it is at times really too noisy. One has to shout to have a conversation at your table. A normal conversation is almost impossible. Asking to lower the volume is a waste of time.

We hope management will pick this up, but we doubt given the fact we spoke several times to them. No improvement noticed so far, only again a raise in price.
We have to think about it if we have to answer the question: will we come back? We don't know but it is getting less likely.

“Just average pub food”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

PJ's has a classic bar food menu which, if executed better, could be quite good. However, service is a bit spotty and the food is uneven. The Pour House, owned by the same owners, is a cut above food-wise. PJ's is OK but has the potential to be much better.

“I like it!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I don't know why anyone is against it because it's a chain....we go there when we want to meet up with friends for a good time or just sit and have a few beers, eat some pub food and watch a game. We've never been disappointed. We were there on a Friday night and it was really busy. But, we got a booth right away, our drinks and food came out timely. I had a BLT that was perfect. Doesn't sound like much but, the bacon was cooked perfectly and the tomato was good for this time of year. We were satisfied and will always go back. Don't be afraid to eat there just because it's a chain. The waitresses are also nice and friendly too!

“Ok food, good beer”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

The food is just average. Not too much taste. Had the Crab sandwich and had to add more cocktail sauce as it had almost no taste. The original french fries were also nothing special at all. A little too much salt and again not much taste. The waitress was fast and friendly, and my husband's beer (dark beer) was good. Husband likes the hamburgers here and it is convenient so we will probably go again. I would not go out of my way for this place.
