I feel fortunate to live within walking distance of one of the best Japanese restaurants in the tri-state region. Fuji is a lovely little gem, a family owned business with friendly service and pleasant decor. Most important: the food is really fresh and tasty. We ate there Saturday night and it was excellent as usual. The place was almost full (and they don't do groupons). The highlight of the meal came first - an appetizer of karaage chicken wings ($7) - Japanese style boneless fried chicken wings with a soy chili vinegar sauce. They were SO tasty. Regular chicken wings cannot compare. Next we ordered the spicy crunchy tuna roll ($8) and the $30 chef's choice sushi plate. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The eel roll was of special note - soft, buttery, flavorful. Next time I might just order an all-eel dinner. We have been there for bento box lunches several times - the tempura is a standout. I believe the more exotic, cooked items on the menu deserve further exploration on future visits. I am especially sorry I missed the seasonal live soft shell crab special, it's gone till next year now. Bonus feature: it's a BYOB in all-dry Haddonfield.
