“Best Pizza in NJ”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

I tried John's Boy for the first time in 1982 when I first moved to Glen Rock. I had just eaten at the V&T near Columbia University the weekend before where I had their terrific Eggplant pizza so I asked John's Boy if he would make me one (it wasn't on the menu). I have never seen a pizza chef get so excited and the result was ever bit as good as the V&T. Well, dozens of eggplant pizzas later (and lots of friends who are now just as addicted as I) will attest that this is the Best Pizza in NJ!

“Best Sicilian Pizza”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

Holy Pizza! If you want a great slice of pizza- go to John's Boy in Glen Rock.

I've lived by Glen Rock for my entire life, and have been coming to this place since I was just a tot- seriously! When I was in Pre-school, we'd take walks into town to eat pizza at John's Boy. Oddly enough, I've never eaten any of their other food.. which should tell you something about their pizza!

The best pizza there, to me, is a fresh slice of sicilian. Besides the fact that the slice is the size of your head (Your stomach will only want one, but your brain and tongue will want two!), it has this incredible taste that makes you say "Mmm" every time you bite into it. There is a thin layer of crust on the bottom, and in the middle is a mattress of pillowy, doughy goodness- with the most incredibly perfect mix of sweet and savory sauce underneath delicious mozzarella cheese (Is your mouth watering yet, cause mine is!).

They also make delicious normal, thin crusted pizza, as well as a really good white pie.

If you want good pizza- come to this place! From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But it's a family joint that's been around forever, with the most incredibly nice people working there, happy to see you eating and enjoying their family's recipes.

Do yourself a favor, come eat this pizza!

“Delicious Pizza from an Odd Shaped Building”
Reviewed February 16, 2012

When you walk into John's Boy from Rock Road you are at the narrowest part of the store. Walk to the back and look for Umberto. He is always there and always helping make pizzas. It is busy but after ordering you can relax and enjoy being there. The Pizza & hot sandwiches are delicious. They are prepared to order. You might find a group of teens, a family or maybe a cop taking tome to eat at John's Boy. Nod. Smile and when your food comes eat and enjoy. Check out the paintings on the wall. One of John's Boy (now retired) looks like Napoleon. The other of Umberto looks like Christopher Columbus.

“Best Pizza in Bergen County....(or possibly anywere!)”
Reviewed December 2, 2011

It's not a lie...they have won awards and have been featured in magazine articles. This gem is tucked away on Glen Rock's main street but don't blink or you'll miss it. The restaurant's front door and sign are the only things visible from the street as the footprint is a triangular shape that opens up as you walk in (very odd). Even though it is a little bit of a drive for me, I have to visit this place anytime I'm in the mood for pizza. The owners are incredibly friendly and once you visit, you'll keep going back. Can't recommend them enough!
