“Good Value”
Reviewed January 10, 2007

Stayed here using my Hilton Honors points and was treated very well (several upgrades were provided). Found getting in and out of the city to be a slight inconvienience but worth the cost difference. The hotel shuttle runs great if the times work out with your schedule (we found the 6:30pm return to be too early and the 9:30pm return a bit late for our young son, would have preferred something in between). I recommend calling ahead to get the shuttle schedule. We just missed a shuttle after arriving so took a cab in to 56th street (paid about $35 with tip for two adults and one child). The second day we took the bus (drops you off at 175th st. subway station). Found this to be the best way in to the city, assuming you can locate a concierge to take you to the bus station. We waited about 25 minutes for the concierge and then found him to be very rude. The hotel shuttle is the only good way out of the city. A cab driver wanted $70 dollars + bridge toll + tip to bring us back to the hotel. Bus doesn't work coming back because you could be stuck at the station if no concierge is available to pick you up. Our room was very nice and other than the one rude concierge, we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.

We choose this hotel as we wanted to see New york but didn't want to speand £3000 on a hotel we found the hotel excellent value. We did upgrade to an executive room and the bed was fantastic. The only draw back is that although this hotel is only 6 miles from new york it will take you at least 30 mins to get there. The hotel does put on a mini bus shuttle service which is 10 dollars pp(each way) however this does get booked up. We found it loads easier to get the bus over the GW bridge and then the subway to 42nd street and the you are a 2 min walk from times square. it sounds a little scary but is so easy to do the hotel will arrange to take you for free to where you get the bus over the GW Bridge which takes you to the subway station. the only problem is although this is an easy way to get into NY book the shuttle back unless you fancy walking on the interstate which is not recomendable! All in all a nice hotel friendly staff especially the bar staff and with a nice pool and jucuzzi to ease your muscles after walking miles around NY what more does the money conscienious traveller want.

  • Liked — Good size bedroom with comftable bed
  • Disliked — Some of the reception staff weren't that friendly
  • Tips/Secrets — use public transprot to get into NYC as cheaper and quicker but i reccomend the shuttle home

Stayed at the Hilton Fort Lee for 7 days in October 2006. The hotel was fine did not use the restaurants or any of the facility’s so I can’t comment on them. The hotel is out of the way and has direct access to a motorway so you can’t venture out of the hotel for a walk. We used the free shuttle bus each day and this sometimes was an issue the pickup was always ok at night but the morning run to the local bus station caused us some headaches.
On a number of occasions we were told the bus would be 10 mins but it always ended up with a 20 mins or more wait. Once they were not going to take us at all because the motorway was busy. The bust to the bus station which is across the bridge is $1 on some buses and $1.25 on others still good value. This drops you at the metro which will take you downtown.
After a few days the run can get you down but you do save on hotel prices downtown. Get a metro card this will save you a lot of cash and it well worth it but you can’t use it on NJ transit.
The hotel staff were ok and the room was clean the only problem we had was the room had adjoining door and at 05:30 the people who were next door who seemed to be drunk tried to enter the room so I called security who came up right away and sorted it out.
If you can afford downtown do it if not this is a good second choice as some of the other hotels in this price range are a lot futher out.
Just one more thing to note if you are thinking on going to the Woodbery Malls Outlets make sure its a dry day as there is no coverd shopping and you will get wet its also busy but you can pick up some good stuff here.

OK. The big room was quite old fashion but OK.
WIFI is free and very usefull !
People are very pleasant, the doorman and front desk.
The lounge is very interesting you can have a good breakfast (the hotess could smile a little more) and you can find food and drinks all day long.
A lot of asian people, quite noisy for asian people but OK.
The hotel is an average for near NYC.

Received Gold VIP upgrade to club level King, and room was renovated, with new Hilton bedding...pretty darn good. However, most of hotel seemed a bit shabby, and needed refreshing...or maybe just a good cleaning...pretty dead mid-week in late July...this is not a tourist hotel...in fact, it really caters to the Japanese business trade...the room service menu was Japanese/ English and my wife and I had some of the best sushi we ever had in the USA in their Japanese restaurant which was very definitely aimed at the visiting Japanese...more than half of the menu was only in Japanese...in New Jersey!...very good food...and not any pricier than normal; about $115 for two, which included sake, sushi, hot foods and dessert.
The VIP lounge was pretty sad...the hostess was very bored, as we were the only two people there...hot appetizers were leathery from being steamed for four hours, and inedible...so, we just had a diet coke, and took some bottled waters back to the room...good job on the perks for your frequent stayers, Hilton!

we just had a 26th international grand reunion and this place does not measure to anything they advertise. we couldn't use their karoake lounge, pool, and fitness center 'coz it's under "renovation." when we booked the function, it was promised that it would be READY. they offered to shuttle us to bally's, but, who wants to travel? veeeeeeeeeeery inconvenient. on top of that, they won't even give us a break on the price. they also shorten our affair for at least an hour. JOSE, the banquet mgr, was of no help and extremely RUDE. they need to update their furnitures and carpet. you have to wait at least an hour or more if u need shuttle service. and make sure u call the hotel 1-2 hrs. ahead of time for pick-jup... the front desk is not there to help u either. they're just to answer the phone and not resolve anything! they should change their name to MOTEL 6.

This hotel is a wonderful choice if you want to be very close to the city, but do not want to have to pay for a room at a Hilton in Times Square or elsewhere in NYC. I always stay at this Hilton with my husband when he is on business in the city. The staff is great-very helpful and extreamly friendly. Although this hotel is a bit older than other Hiltons, it is still in great condition. The best part is the beds.. they are huge and clearly the most comfortable bed you will ever sleep in at a hotel!! Loved it!
