Surprising my wife with a one night stay after our day in NYC to see all the Christmas sights and lights, I could not have picked a better place. Only 15 miles from Newark Penn Station by car, we were treated to a wonderful bottle of champagne/chocolate covered strawberries and the most pleasant of surroundings.
We were pretty tired after a day around NYC, so we chose the room service and were not disappointed. The filet mignon was done to our order perfectly and the bottle of wine complimented it very well.
Our room was handsomely decorated and very spacious. What a great way to see NYC and enjoy the quiet of the suburbs close by.

Let me start by saying we only stayed 1 night (for a wedding).
Check-in was quick and easy, and the hotel front-desk was very polite while we were staying but getting the reservation was disorganized. Also, some others in our party had the wrong rates given or additional charges (for things they did not have/use).

The rooms were quite a hike from the lobby. It is a large hotel and obviously you don't want a room right next to the elevator - but it's so spread out that its a put-off. Also, the lighting in the rooms was not very good and the beds/sheets were not very comfortable. But actually the biggest complaint is that our AC unit would "turn" on every half-hour and when it does... it sounds like someone knocking on your door. At first we thought friends were playing some kind of joke. But it happened ALL night. This is not condusive to a good night's sleep. The only positives of the room was it's size and cleanliness.

The bar/restaurant attached was SO good though, that this review gets 3 stars. Very rarely am I impressed with these places but the staff was great (they even gave us a few free drinks) and the atmosphere good. They had plenty of activities (a bunch of pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, etc.) plus a large area for plenty of people to go.

Unfortunately the bar can't carry the inadequacies of the room. We got a great deal with a AAA discount, but to me the rooms need to be a highlight of any hotel... and ours was subpar.

We stayed here after a wedding. The rooms were beautiful. Definitely exceeded our expectations.

Customer service was also superb. There was a long line at check-in, but staff came around with free cookies and bottled water to give to people waiting in line. It was a welcome surprise.

Pool and Vanderbilt's were also great. I would definitely recommend!

We stayed at the hotel for the weekend of July 17-19, 2009 for the 50th anniversary of our family circle. We were a group of about 40 people, ranging in age from 2 to 90. The hotel staff was extremely accomodating and went out of their way to provide excellent, friendly service.
The lobby was what first attracted us to choosing the hotel for our reunion because it has big, beautiful seating areas with nice leather couches in big square nooks. We enjoyed the hotel facilites which included an indoor and outdoor pool, a big gym, sand volleyball, racketball courts and basketball courts. We brought our own lawn games and there was a nice grassy area with picnic tables and shade. In addition, the Vanderbilts bar has games such as foosball, pool, and table shuffleboard.
The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable. They are nicely appointed with good toiletries and individual cup coffee makers. The beds are very comfortable with built in lights in the head boards.
The food in the hotel was very good. We catered our party at the hotel for our family circle's 50th anniversary. We had a barbecue buffet which was a nice, varied menu. We had our own room at the Arrive Restaurant which included a patio for 5 hours. The food was presented beautifully with friendly, helpful staff. The food at the buffet breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, was outstanding. Plenty of choices and many healthy options. The food at Vanderbilts bar was very good as well.
The town of Madison is 5 minutes away, and has nice shops and restaurants. There are many options for families in the area. If anyone arrives by train from NYC there is a shuttle service.
This was our second time at the hotel, the first time in January when we were in the process of selecting a hotel for the reunion. We definitely hope to go back soon.

We stayed at the Hamilton Park hotel for a one-night getaway. Upon arrival we got checked in early and got the King bed which we requested. Overall, the room was very small. The bedroom needed updating, but the bathroom looks like it was recently upgraded - was also small but nice. The bed was very comfortable.

There was both an indoor and outdoor pool/whirlpool - which was very nice. Not too big but good enough. Both pools needed major updating - the general fixtures were all turned/rusting and loose. - was kind of depressing. The patio seemed very old/aged. No entertainment or music on - kind of boring, but at the same time relaxing. I guess it depends on what you like. There was also a workout gym - much larger than normal hotel gyms - you can actually get a decent workout there. They may bring on memberships - which is possibly why it was so inclusive.

For dinner there was two options - a buffet in the restaurant or bar food at Vanderbilts sports club. The buffet looked very good, but the only ones in there were the wait staff - it was completely dead. Maybe because of the night. But the buffet was also $27.95 which was more than we wanted to spend that night. But the price was worth what they were offering - it was reasonable actually - so I am not mocking it at all. We just didn't want to spend that much that night.

We ate at Vanderbilts which was actually good and very reasonable. An excellent burger and fries for like $10 bucks is a steal. My wife had a salad with grilled chicken which was also very good for like $11. And to top it off, they had a happy hour until 9pm with $3.00 drafts and mixed drinks - can't beat that! We played free pool and games in the sports bar most of the night - so that was fun. At least it was a place to hang out all night.

The free breakfast that came with our stay was excellent. It was above average - with omelete and waffle station, usual breakfast items, nova lox, smoothies, cereal, yogurt parfaits, and a bunch of other odds and ends. Was definitely worth it - was surprised that it was so nice.

Overall, I think if they updated the hotel in some areas such as rooms and the pool area, this would be a great place. I am not sure if I would go back again - mainly because of the very outdated pool area. If they fix that part I would go back. For others, it may be fine - I may be just too picky.

I stayed at the hotel on Saturday night. Yes, there was a lot of activity here, a baby shower, a wedding and it was very busy. None of which had a negative impact on my stay. The rooms were very clean, neat, comfortable and well appointed. Their mission statement is excellent and my overall stay was excellent. Earth friendly products and efforts to help the enviornment are an absolute plus!

The hotel staff was on top of everything. Every time you got up from your seat, the staff would refold the napkins and place it back on the table. Any item you needed was there for you. The room was great, the food was excellent, and the location is beautiful. I think the person that had a problem sleeping was above or near the club. You can request a room further away. We heard absolutely no noise. This is the first time we stayed there, but would look forward to many repeated stays.
