Description: Matt’s Red Rooster Grill is a contemporary American bistro paying homage to a wood fired grill that “brings out the best flavors” of traditional American cuisine, reinvented creatively. A CIA (Hyde Park) graduate, Chef Matt McPherson stays true to his local roots integrating the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local family farms & day boat fisherman into his unique dishes. The restored Victorian home provides a relaxed elegant atmosphere to catch up with friends, celebrate special occasions, enjoy a romantic dinner, or impress an important client. As Matt’s creations pamper your taste buds, the staff indulges you with rock star service, the perfect remedy for a long day or week. With two floors, downstairs feeds off the warmth & energy of a bustling open kitchen. Four seats at the Chef's counter let you feel the heat, as you watch Matt & his team from a perch over the grill. Upstairs is away from the bustle while the porch provides relaxed & refreshing outdoor dining.

“A home run every time”

We have frequented Matt's for many occasions and the food is consistently top notch. Whether there for an intimate dinner or a group function, the service and attention are exceptional. We have never had a bad experience. Matt's is our "go to" place. A bit pricy for a BYOB but worth every penny!

“A Good Local Choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Old house off Main St., nicely done with chef-side bar seating and a chef's table. Small intimate dinning location. Stay downstairs if you can, upstairs is away from the action and a little claustrophobic (although OK for a romantic dinner). It is BYOB, bring a great bottle of wine to enjoy, we had two. Great food . . . we had, to begin, shared, short rib ravioli, oysters, stuffed pablano chili all wonderfully prepared and presented. For our main we had Cherry-Coke short ribs and pork chop with a creamy mustard sauce with a citrus fruit tart (awesome crust) for dessert. All in all no complaints, but . . . if I were Matt I would find more creative sides, the smashed red potatoes tasted like wallpaper paste, boring, and the broccoli and shredded carrot saute was over cooked (carrots OK). Neither had any creative touches, or any for that matter any interesting flavors - - every dish was served with the same sides (I understand the theory, focus on the main dish, but I like interesting sides). Service and staff are top notch. Worth a visit. Get reservations, the place is always packed. In a local sea of chain restaurants serving garbage food this place is a beacon of hope for the local dining experience. Rumor has it he is involved in the Union Hotel re-do and has opened an Italian bistro, Gallo Rosso (staff says they are still working out the bugs). I intend on trying it next visit. Overall, nice job, Matt!

“Never Disapoints! Best Restaurant in Flemington!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

We love Matt's! The salmon is always cooked to perfection! Never overdone. They have a terrific Lobster Risotto which was not over powered by the lobster perfect touch of cheese. My favorite dessert is the bread pudding. Its a must go to if you are in the area. Reservations are always recommended.

“By Far, Best Place to Eat in Flemington”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

Such an enjoyable overall dinning experience. This was our third visit to Matt's. We've never been disappointed. Seasonal/creative menu, perfectly orchestrated service, food that I'm still talking about weeks later and a beautiful space. Reservations are so necessary, but if you pop in without one, there may be space right in front of the open kitchen.
