What a place reminds me of when I was a kid and had train platform with my Dad. They have done an outstanding job on this place.

Entire family went this past Sunday and this place is absolutely incredible. The condition of the place is no different than any other museum however the displays are like no other. Surreal can best describe the experience. Well worth the price of admission. Took 1.5 hours to get through and we weren't even stopping to look at everything. I rarely write reviews but had to come on to counter all the exaggerated negative reviews out here. We almost didn't come because of them and I am so glad we didn't listen to them.

Northlandz is a great place to visit for model train fans. It's a little pricey to get in and of course everyone wants to go on the outdoor train ride which is an additional cost. Inside, the numerous tracks and displays are amazing to see, especially when you think about all the hours spent designing and creating. The interior of the building and some of the displays definitely need some TLC and a thorough dusting. If you have small children watch for sharp edges on the plexiglass and some raw wood and drywall damage. Also there are some exposed displays with loose fixtures like mini cars and animals that can be easily grabbed. And one of the safety railings was broken and came off from the wall when my son grabbed it.

The displays are neat - who doesn't love trains? But for the cost of the entry, they should be updating the decor and fixing things around the building - it's falling apart. Dusty, dirty, outdated. Love the trains; the price and surroundings - not so much.

Northlandz is one to those pure americana attractions of yesteryear that just happens to be still going strong in Flemington NJ. It's a place that might not be interesting to all, model trains, but still has some kind of drawing power that makes you want to see it. It's certainly not as quirky as the world's biggest ball of twine in Kansas, or the Cadillac Ranch in Texas, but nevertheless special in it's own way just for the sheer amount of work this one man performed to build his dream. I think it's more a monument to this dream, that also happens to have the world's largest model railroad in it. I read another reviewer mention the Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg as a comparison, I have just returned from a visit there and can attest that the attention to detail is stunning. But I'm dang sure one man didn't build that! Go see this place before it just becomes one of those legendary places that no longer exists.
