Good location to Newark interational but not an easy one to find.Check-in was a nightmare....so busyc and only 2 check-in staff.Welcome was "just so".The place is obviously being rennovated so that should be considered. My room was actually superb - very spacious, well appointed and a tremendous bed.Slept like a log!!!
However, the staff at breakfast were more concerned with their own conversations and the food was just dreadful;pathetic selection, dreary and cold buffet. So poor i didn't bother on the next 2 mornings.Obvious too from the bar staff that this is just a place for people "passing through!"A real let-down.An expensive experience and one I would not care to repeat.

I booked this stay through Hotwire, and was rather skeptical when I checked out the reviews. You have to stay alert to catch the shuttle, but it's free, which you don't get in Manhattan. Internet is free. It's under renovation, and there's definitely still work to be done (baseboards, some painting, etc), but the bed was very comfortable and hotel staff was great, and I think when it's finished it will be up to the Crowne Plaza standard.

The hallways of this hotel could definitely use some update. Smelled terrible. In addition, the morning was chaotic and the shuttle did not announce that they were here! Extremely poor service! I missed the shuttle and ended up having issues with my flight. What kind of service is this??? Do i have to stand outside in the cold to get the shuttle? I travel a lot and this place was a total failure. As a professional and businessman i will be making sure everyone i know trays clear of crowne plaza.

Setting expectations is important. This is a large, standard airport hotel. It is not a luxury, boutique, or resort. Its prime function is to provide good quality accommodations to stranded customers. The rooms are a good size, the soundproofing is excellent, and everything was clean. The hotel was understaffed, but was not full so service was good. I can well imagine that when things go wrong at Newark airport and the hotel is flooded with unhappy travelers with airline vouchers that it could be a different story. The shuttle runs every half hour on the hour and half hour like clockwork so it can get overloaded if there are a lot of people off the same plane. the hotel was in the last stages of a minor renovation and smelled of new carpet and new paint. Baseboards were not yet replaced in the halls and room numbers were paper signs taped on the doors, but so what? At least they are trying to keep things up.

I had a very good, although expensive, hamburger and a not so good but expensive cocktail in the one restaurant. Beer would have been a better choice. Computers were available in the lobby and there was a small mart/coffee shop for sundries that looked nice.

If you are tired and hassled from airline foulups this would be a perfectly good choice in an area which can be both expensive and sometimes poor quality. The hotel is a standard on both Hotwire and Priceline so don't pay full price!
