“Massive Tax Free Outlet Mall”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

It’s under an hour-long drive from New York City to Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall, which is situated near the newark airport. Though not that high end, there’s something for everyone in particularly the younger crowd with heaps of shops selling street fashion and a large entertainment complex for watching movies and playing video games.

First things first, the shops in thisoutlet mall are indoors – so it doesn’t matter what the weather or temperature is like outside. Because Jersey Gardens is an Urban Enterprise Zone, sales tax on non-clothing items is only 3.5% and there is zero sales tax on clothing items – you’ll save money even before you benefit from the low outlet mall prices! There were over200 shops in the mall but quite a few were disappointing with very little selection and/or sizes. Big name shops like Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nike, Abercrombie Outlet and Calvin klein were massive letdowns.

There are no real “good” restaurants in the mall. With the exception of Johnny Rockets, the rest are clustered in the food court…Sbarro, Nathan’s Famous, Great Steak & Potato Co, to name a few.

This is a very touristy place – everywhere you look you will see an Asian, Hispanic or European. The only reason I will return to this mall is because of its proximity to New York City and that Woodbury is a long drive away. This is the true truth as i say it as it is…

“A whole day there was not enough...”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

We were in NY and rented a car to get there- by far the best way to bring back suitcases full of items purchased. It took us 35 min. By bus it is also very quick but not as comfortable if you intend to spend money and come back with loads of shopping bags. The outlet is huge with most brands selling bargains. It is not in the open air anymore so rain, snow and cold is not a problem. They have even covered both floors with carpet! Huge parking lot. Do park near the Applebee's restaurant's entrance, it is located right in the middle of the outlet. If you intend to spend money, do not stop for lunch, just a snack. I spend littlmoney compared to what I bought. I had incredible savings at Tommy, Nike, Armany and Polo. Get crazy there and include Forever 21 if you are a woman. I went to Orlando after my trip to NY...horrible! Orlando was much more expensive, lacked sizes and in the stores there was a great mess. Avoid the Premium Outlets in Orlando if you are not going to NY in the same trip

“Strongly recommended!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

I spent 3 days for shopping in Manhattan, desperately trying to find qualitative cloths and shoes at affordable price. 21Centery, Macy's, shops at Prince Street, Manhattan Mall and others are full of trash. Before departure I went to Jersey Gardens and was presently surprised. There are a lot of brands such as Brook Brothers, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and others at really nice prices. If I knew this mall before I had definitely went there first.

“Just a shopping centre”
Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

Don't be fooled this is just a normal everyday shopping centre, nothing was any cheaper than in New York City stores. Only pro was it was indoors. This is not a outlet centre

“Good mall but a bit depressing”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

When we visited the mall it was pretty empty. We grabbed a cart for a few dollars to help us carry our bags around.

Managed to purchase a few items but didn't spend too much time there as we were just off an 8 hour long flight so were in a rush to get to our hotel.

More signs for the bus stop etc would be of assistance but overall a nice mall and a great place to bag a few bargains.
