I'm confused by all the recent positive reviews. ?? My family went there recently and were really quite horrified by how bad the food was. CLEARLY the food was not fresh, as i could taste the freezer burn on EVERYTHING i tried. Eggplant rolletini, even the basic marinara sauce had that freezer burn taste... We orderes family style appetizers and were given small dessert dishes with 4 of each option. Family style? i think now! AND the STAFF eesh. They were all in a rush, they were flat rude to the children- who were behaving beautifully, but were clearly in the way, as one waiter trying to get by motioned impatiently for him to get up, and when he did he roughly SHOVED his chair under the table and rushed by- leaving the boy standing and confused! THEN when one bus boy wanted to get my attention he literally POKED ME- and said "Hey lady, coffee?" WHAT ON EARTH??? Needless to say... We will not be returning. Ever...

Excellent food and service make this restaurant a mainstay in the area. It is a BYOB and they are happy to serve all of your spirits. The menu is extensive but they will prepare any dish exactly how you want it so do not hesitate to ask. The only downside to the restaurant is its popularity, the weekends can be brutal. Even with reservations there can be lines to sit and a subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, nudge by the staff to finish up. During the week none of this happens and it is soooooo pleasant. They will tell you what fish are fresh, ask the prices for the specials, and order the dishes exactly how you want them prepared. The food is consistently great! The dessert cart is attractive and hard to pass up. Enjoy and do not be rushed!

Il Mulino has been my favorite place for years. When people go into a restaurant to have dinner when they are already grumpy, they will not enjoy the experience as much. I don't step out to dinner with a grudge so I never have a negative attitude towards places. All i know is that Il Mulino has amazing food and the whole staff at il mulino is very friendly and attentive.

If you're looking for Il Mulino you might miss it on this hidden away Dumont side street, but it's next to the Post Office. The food is good---real good; try the veal scalipini.

We arrived promptly for our 700PM reservation and were seated within one minute in a table by the window which was an excellent location. As we walked to the table, the scent of Italian cooking fray-granted the air and i knew from experience this would be a good meal. Instead it was a fabulous meal.
Being New Years eve and a full restaurant it turned out perfect. The menu was special including the waiter advising us of even more specials. The prices were excellent and the service was great. There was enough help on the floor to handle the overflow customers.
We decided to share a Gnocchi as an appetizer and 2 different veal dishes. What can you say if the food tastes perfect ????..... "Perfectto".
Since Il Molino is a BYOB we washed the food down with a nice Chianti wine. "Could not get any better". We shared a tieramissau that was very tasteful.
All in all the service, the food and the restaurant was enjoyable. we left a nice tip and arrived home to watch the ball drop at mid night in Times Square NY.
Happy new years everybody and put Il Molino on your list of restaurants to try.

.

We wanted to try this restaurant after our close friends recommended Il Molino.
