Well groomed and easy to walk or ride your bike. Decent size parking lot. I believe they just completed an extension as well.
Trail is over an old rail line, flat and we'll shaded. Several portapotties along the way.. biking andhorse back riding permitted. Great opportunity to exercise.
the UTT is such a convenient trail. So close to home and well maintained. You may have to dodge the occasional horse piles but other than that, its a really nice place to walk, bike or run.
Used this trail for running many times. Several parking areas with porta potties. Expect company, I always encounter other people either running, walking, biking, walking dogs, occasionally on horseback. But not to the point that it is crowded. Wonderful cinder surface so less stress on legs and feet. And manageable in slightly soggy weather. Mile and half mile markers and some trash and recycling containers. Great place to run, jog, walk or bike. Generally shady so even comfortable in summer.
We live in the area, and the Union Transportation Trail is always a good place to take a walk. We visit frequently in the summer, and there's always some sort of animal to see--hawk, buzzard, snake, deer, mice, cat, etc. It's also fairly quiet, and many of the homeowners whose houses back up to the trail offer friendly greetings to those who pass by.
What's nice is that the end of the trail winds up near the Cream Ridge Golf Course, so if you take a walk around mealtime, you can always stop by their restaurant (The Roost) for happy hour.
This trail is awesome and highly recommend. Great for runners, people who bike, walk your dog and riding your horse. The trail just recently fully opened. I believe from start to finish is 8 miles and if you want to bike like me, it is 16 miles round trip. Parking available at different locations
