My husband and I were taking an alternate route home from NY and needed to stop for lunch. We weren't familiar with the area but exited at Clinton because it looked like a fairly big town on the map. We decided to stop at Pizza Como because it would be easy to get back on the main road from there, but we were not expecting much--especially when we went in and saw the distinct lack of atmosphere (and only one customer besides us, probably because it was about 2:30 pm). We asked if they could still make the lunch specials, and they said yes. So we ordered the tortellini with pesto and spring vegetables, which was a special, and the seafood napolitano appetizer (from the regular menu), which had shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari and a slightly spicy "broth" which was more like red sauce). Both were delicious and large portions (the appetizer could easily be a main dish, especially if you use the warm breadsticks to sop up the sauce). One thing that impressed me was that the salad that came with the tortellini was good quality--not your typical iceberg and slice of tomato and cucumber. It had spring mix greens, tomato, olive, and diced mozzarella. The dressing was packaged Italian, but it was good enough.
They have an extensive pizza menu, which was very tempting, but we had been eating pizza for the last couple of days so decided to try something else. However, if we ever are in that area again we will definitely try the pizza.
There was no table service and the guys behind the counter weren't especially friendly, but with food this good I'm willing to overlook service.
