“Good Food, Disappointing Prices”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

While the breads they have to offer are delicious and taste very homemade, I wish they weren,t so darn expensive. I understand that as a small business they cannot have prices too low, but they should consider the fact that most people can't afford to spend 6 dollars on 1 loaf of bread. I haven't tried any of their desserts, but they look really good!

“Good, but wish they had more lunch options”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

A nice, clean bakery/cafe in Clinton NJ. Perfect for a small town. Pasteries and cakes are very good. I have visited numerous times and I am still confused on what type of restauarant it strives to be.

Is it a cafe to visit to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry (like a Starbucks)? Is it a lunch place to take out or eat in the sandwiches on their wonderful handmade bread? Is it a bakery that you can pick up cakes, bread, or seasonal pies to enjoy at home or for a party? I'm still not sure.

The daily hot lunch special is very good, but is it special if it hasn't changed in more than a year? The soups are very good as well (served with fresh bread), but can be pricy if you want a lunch size. The salads, sad to say, are premade and uninspired. The fresh breads are usually delicious (although the baquettes can be hit or miss). The restaurant is a walk up to the counter and order, which can cause slow service a lunch if it gets too crowded.

I would recommend that the restaurant decide what it wants to be. If you want to be a bakery, be the best darn bakery that you can be. Have good quality coffee (not coffee that is pumped by the customer from the urns on a counter, so you can compete with CitiSpot cafe down the street), pasteries, doughnuts for the customers that want to stay, and quality cakes, bread, and pies to order and take home. And thats it!

Or be a cafe lunch place with a variety of menu options, gets customers in and out quickly so they can go back to work, and they want to come again to see what they are cooking up. However, based on the set up of the restaurant I would recommend the former suggestion.

I really hope it makes it, and by all accounts it should. Just add some more focus.

“Corner bakery has tasty soups, salads, sandwiches and baked goods”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

This roomy place does a great job. Self service that is quick and efficient. Four of us had lunch including excellent NE clam chowder and black bean soup, tasty signature salads, tuna sandwich and a ham, cheese and egg flat bread focaccia. Very good food and reasonable prices. There are also a few tables outside. We tried it after reading the great reviews in Trip Advisor

“Fantastic”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

Great bead and delicious homemade treats. I stop here whenever I need snacks for a dinner party or am feeling bad. A welcome addition to downtown Clinton and fantastic services. PS - grab some of the homemade dog bones... my dog loves them.
