If you like home made pasta properly prepared, this is the place to go. The large noisy table next to us was complaining that their pasta was too dry - I guess they're used to the soup served in too many Italian restaurants. Ours came nicely dressed in the appropriate sauce and cooked perfectly al dente. A fair selection of reasonably priced wine and very friendly service add to the experience. This was our third dinner here and we'll be back.

La Riviera Trattoria is, to put it simply, excellent. The restaurant is fairly small (though there is a back room that is opened when needed, or used for private parties). I've been there many times over the last ten years, and the food is always consistently good, as is the service. Prices are moderate. My personal favorite is the Chicken Cacciatore, which is available in two styles: "traditional" (whole chicken pieces) and "boneless" (breast fillets). Next door is the La Riviera Gastronomia, intended I think for take-out, but having a small dining area, and is less expensive. I think the only other Italian restaurant in the area on par with La Riviera Trattoria is Bella Napoli in Bloomfield, but I think La Riviera has the edge in the freshness and quality of the food.

We use to go here a lot and somehow lost touch. It may be ten yrs or so, but i can't remember why we have not come back. The food was always very good. Well, it is the same owner and chef, and same great food. They have redecorated since we have gone last and is very well done. We got there at 330 pm for a early diner and found that they close between lunch and diner for a couple hrs. We saw someone walk over to the door and we asked about the hrs. and we found that it was the owner/Chef, Frank. He asked are we really hungry and if so to come in and that he would cook for us. Not only did he cook, but he also waited on us as well. This is a great guy. He made us feel like family. Now to the food. My wife had a stuffed artichoke that was as good as they come. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection, lots of buttery, lemony juice to soak up the very good crusty bread they serve here. I asked for the soupa di piece with some hot peppers like a fradliablo. Frank really made this special. Over a bed of perfectly cooked linguini come a mix of dry boat scallops, jumbo shrimp, baby calamari, and little tiny manila clams with a very light pink tomatoes sause, with long hot peppers that tasted fresh out of the garden. We both loved and in joyed this restaurant very much, and can't wait to go back. We only hope that the wait person will be as kind and professional as Frank was. Every thing was perfect Frank and thanks again
