Days Inn & Suites Cherry Hill - Philadelphia

I have stayed in many hotels but this was by far my worst experience. Upon entering the hotel room, via the stairs located outside, I almost stepped and tripped over a power washer sprayer that was left on the floor, with the water turned on! Water was covering the steps and carpet leading upstairs to our room. When entering the room, there was a musty smell that overpowered the entire room. My boyfriend and I then looked down and saw that the carpet had not been cleaned...at all. Some of the lightbulbs were out but at least the ones beside the bed were working. The bed itself was ok. The vanity sink top looked dirty and very worn. The bathroom (which was separate from the sink) was filthy! It was very small and you had to step the whole way in before you could even close the door. There was a black film in the tub bottom so I knew I wasn't going to be stepping in with bare feet (I actually had to run to a store down the street to buy flip flops!) and there was rust on the facuet. The free breakfast was a joke! We got there early, around 8:00 am, and there was nothing there. We saw a few muffins, bread, packaged oatmeal, and some bagels in a plastic bag that were half frozen. The little food that was there did not look appealing so we ended up going down the road to McDonald's instead.

We stayed in this hotel after reading the excellent traveller reviews. After our stay, we realized that the hotel needed a lesson in customer service. On the day of check out, our wake up call never came. Upon realizing that, we called the front desk immediately and let the staff know that we will be checking out immediately. The front desk began giving us the 3rd degree, e.g. who did we make the wake up call with, its not the hotel's policy to offer good faith to customers who didn't receive a wake up call, etc. It was only after that we admitted that it was our honest mistake, did the staff allow us to check out in 10 minutes without a penalty. The staff never acknowledged that the hotel may have had some accountability in the matter (e.g. the wake up call that never arrived.) Although the staff offered us future discounts on the hotel stay, we will never stay in the hotel again.

Stayed at the Days Inn at 525 Rt. 38 in Cherry Hill, NJ Thursday Jan. 12 & Friday Jan. 13, 2006. I was attending a coaches clinic at the Hilton Hotel on Rt. 70 in Cherry Hill. The Days Inn is about 1.5 miles from the Hilton. I booked both days through Hotels, but I booked each day separately about two weeks apart. I paid $93 for a king bed on Friday night, and $105 for a room with two queens on Thursday night (taxes included). I had this room set-up because the Days Inn sold out quickly because of the clinic at the Hilton. I called the Days Inn to see if I could get a single room for both days. It did not matter to me whether I had a king or 2 queens....whatever worked for them. I spoke with two different front desk employees (Kelly & Stephanie) who assured me that a single room would be alright and that I would not have to check out of one room on Friday and check in again the same day. I realize that it was my delay in booking the rooms that caused the problem, but I did not think it would be a big deal to simply stay in one room from Thursday until check-out on Saturday. I went to the convention early on Friday and came back to my room during a lunch break...key did not work. Went to the front desk...had to check in again to stay in the same room. Quick and easy but still a pain. All of my belongings were still in the room. The room was cleaned and my belongings untouched. No real problem. I requested a non-smoking room, but I got a room that was saturated with reaking cigarette smoke. So bad that I had a persistent headache. The Days Inn is in a good location. Several resturants nearby on RT. 38 (TGIF, Outback, Hooters, Cherry Hill Mall). Other than the reaking smoke, the room was OK, but I did have to kill one water bug on the wall. Never saw another one. Great hot water and pressure in the shower. The Days Inn is a decent place, but I think it was over priced even at the lower rate of $93. $65 would be about right for this room. If I could get the room at a lower rate, and have a non-smoking room I would stay there again.
If I go back to the coaches clinic next year, I will be certain to book early and get a room at the Hilton just for the convenience.

There should be a rating between terrible and okay, but...

We visited a hospital in Philadelphia and decided to spend two nights at a hotel. Last time we were in Philly we saw a Days Inn in Cherry Hill, NJ, on Route 38, just five or six miles away. It looked pretty nice. We stopped in and looked around the lobby. It was spacious and modern and gave a good impression.

We booked at Days Inn and checked in in the late afternoon. We had requested a crib on line. Our room was small and smelled. It was a "smoking room." I smoke so I know what smoke smells like in a room. This was more like a "cat smell." I told my daughter it smelled like a cheap hotel room down the shore.

We called the desk about not having a crib in the room; they said they don't have cribs (and, frankly, did not seem very concerned with our dilemma). We hung up and decided to look for another hotel. On the way out of the parking lot we stopped at the front desk to tell them we were going to look for another place because we did not have a crib and had a small toddler with us, and we would not be spending either of the two nights with them if we found a suitable place. Suddenly, they looked in the storage room and found a crib! They did not seem very concerned before that and did not go out of their way to find a crib before we threatened them with loss of revenue.

A very nice facade on this motel, but the rooms are stinky and small. There was only one out of three lamps that even had a bulb and, of course, we got bulbs immediately from the desk, but it shows that they do not maintain their rooms well.

We feel so strongly about this we are typing this from the Guest Hotel computer in the lobby (they do have a computer for the guests to use). We decided to stay here because it was just too much trouble to leave. But, never again will we stay here.
