“DISGUSTING PLACE!”
Reviewed June 4, 2010

This place is crapy and dirty! Bad customer service. The place is located in the middle of nowhere. I woke up in the middle of night and saw an insect right next to my pillow. It is disgusting place! I would never ever go some place like this. There are so many better hotels @ meadowland, later on I found out. They are about the same price, and much better and cleaner than this crappy place!

We booked this hotel based on the reviews of the site and based on our previous trips to other Hampton Inns. Firstly, the people were not at all helpful at the front desk. They couldn't find our reservation even though we had spoken to them several times before arrival. Breakfast the first morning consisted of empty platters, standing around with our plates and no place to sit! When we complained, they told us the hotel was booked to the max and there was nothing they could do about it. At night, the coffee area had lukewarm, stale coffee from the morning. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. On the bright side, when there is no traffic it takes only 10 minutes to get into Manhattan (although it took over 2 hours on the morning of Dec. 31). Breakfast the next morning was very well stocked, but once again, no place to sit. We left early, and unfortunately since we didn't book directly thru the hotel, they wouldn't hear of refunding our money. The front desk was not interested at all in our complaints. Hampton Inns are normally wonderful hotels, we stay at them frequently. But do yourself a favor: stay at the Hampton Inn Secaucus or Manhattan.

Our family just returned from a visit to the New York City trip and a New York Jets game. This hotel was everything you could ask for. First off, we called and asked if we could check in early, they stated we come in anytime and that would be fine. We checked in at 9:45AM. We were going to NYC for the day and from previous posts, there is a bus stop across the street that will take you to the Port Authority in downtown NYC(8th&41St). I have never been to NYC and never been on a bus because it it usually too confusing. We got on bus 162 and it takes you right to the Port Authority with no problems, very easy. Also returning was just as easy..promise. The following day we went to a jets game and the stadium is directly across the street from the hotel. It is a ten minute walk to the stadium to get around the fence and to the gate. If you don't want to walk, the hotel has two shuttle vans that will take you right there. As for the hotel, it looked and smelled very clean, No mold in the bathroom anywhere. The beds are the most comfortable a hotel has to offer. They are pillowtop beds. The morning breakfast buffet was nice with eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, fruit, donuts, coffee and more. Not the best, but did the job. As for the staff, they were ALL very nice and friendly and very helpful. We were looking for a nice place to eat and they suggested Segovia. If you stay at this hotel, you need to go to the Segovia and get the filet mignon. The best and it is huge. This place has steak, seafood, and pasta all in one, and it is Zagat rated. We all enjoyed our stay and with a AAA discount we paid $98 from $125 original price. It does not have a swimming pool, which is the ONLY negative thing I could say about this place. Other reviews state that it is out of the way from everything . Well you have a bus stop directly across the street to take you to NYC, you have two shuttles to take you anywhere you want to eat, and the pickup was quick returning to the hotel. This place is a must place to stay if you are going to NYC or a Jets/Giants game.

Stayed at the hotel while attending Springsteen concerst at Giants Stadium. Great price, comfortable, clean rooms. Hotel ran a shuttle to the concert, but I do not recommend walking back. Front desk was helpful--arranging to shuttle us to restaurants and even the Newark aiport. I wish I had known that before I booked a rental car.Breakfast was good, but a little crowded--I believe they have plans to remodel this area.

It´s all positive that I can say about this hotel. For total of four nights in two periods this was a perfect place in every aspect.

In my opinion, it´s mostly the staff that makes the hotel what it is and in this case the staff was excellent: nice, polite and totally unpretentious.

I had a change to use car to get to the city and surrounding areas and this location was convenient for that, but you´ll do fine (perhaps even better when going to NYC!) without a car as public transportation is available nearby.

I´m sure I´ll stay there again when visiting this part of New Jersey in the future.

Although the hotel is a couple of years old it is a convincing place regards comfort, service and public transport accessibility. What is fantastic is the bus stop to New York City (163 to PABT) just opposite the hotel. The receptionist's local knowledge was extraordinary helpful (don't forget to visit Taos' Restaurant with ists Barbecue platter!). The breakfast staff was very friendly and warmhearted. Muffins, bagles, toasts usually New York XXL-style.

I've stayed in many hotels - the good and the bad. This one was average, and much better than I was expecting for a school trip to New York City. It was very clean.
The beds were big, and comfy. We had enough room for 3 girls with 3 large suitcases and tons of bathroom stuff. The TV and fridge were great.
Our microwave didn't work right and we had to stand there holding the plug to make sure it worked.
Also, the bathroom didn't have a fan, which was annoying for getting in and out of the shower, it made our room humid. We could also hear a lot of noise from the trucks out back.
I can't complain too much though, because all we did was sleep and eat. The breakfast had plenty of options and held us over until we could eat. It was a quick drive in to NYC through the Lincoln Tunnel.
The shuttle service was great - they even picked us up after hours because the restaurant didn't call the hotel. We were very grateful as it was pouring rain and we had no idea how to get back to the hotel!
Overall, next time I return to NYC I would rather stay in the city, but this is a nice alternative.
