“Few Days in New York City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

We have stayed in this area before. What we like is you can walk out the door. Hop on the NJ bus and it takes you right to NY city. The Econolodge is a great clean place to stay. We had two rooms that were extra nice for the area. The breakfast that comes with the room was also great.

Room Tip: You have to climb the stairs so make sure to get a lower room.

Chose this hotel because of its close proximity to NYC (20 min by bus), the free parking and convenient public transportation - the bus is across the street, as others have mentioned. The service was always friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. I had no choice but to book a smoking room and the smell didn't overpower us. A/c worked fine, which was good since we were in a massive heat wave. The breakfast area was quite hot though, even though there were fans. Not too much choice for breakfast, but was fine. I would suggest they put extra toasters and waffle makers.
When traveling back from NYC, make sure to tell the bus driver to stop. It worked well on the first night but on the second we had to urgently ask him to stop because he didn't notice the stop request. Oh well, he left us right at the entrance of the hotel, so that worked out fine! It is true that the walk back from the regular bus stop isn't very pleasant - no sidewalks and your walking next to run-down buildings. Atleast its not a far walk.
So if your looking for a convenient, inexpensive hotel to visit NYC, and your just there to sleep really, this hotel is a two thumbs up!

We were there July 6-10 2013. The outside does not look as pleasant as the pictures but the room was very nice. Everything except the carpet was renovated. The bus stop is about a block away but returning at night isn't the nicest walk. there are two abandoned buildings on your path. They do give you a paper with direction to get back from NYC. The round trip to NYC is $9. If you drive into NYC it cost $13 toll but is hard to get parking. The breakfast is outside on a patio but it was only waffles and some apples. Metlife stadium is in walking distance. You can drive to Liberty Park in NJ to go to the Statue of Liberty in 10 minutes. Our first room the air conditioner didn't work but we had no problem with changing to another room.

Not only a clean room, friendly personnel, but a great location. We were visiting NY for the first time and we were very please to have all the info about our commute ready for us. The bus station is 3 steps away from the hotel, the nice lady from the hotel gave us a note with all the steps we had to follow to travel back and forth. Our nightmare changed into a happy, stress-free and fun adventure.
A great value for this priceless price !!Free breakfast, free parking, a gas station across street, for who knows what you forgot home... I will definitely book this hotel next time I have to be near NY and I will recommend to everybody!

Located just a 20min bus ride from Port of Authority (Time Square) bus terminal in NYC this hotel is hard to beat: Free parking, large and confy rooms, free continental breakfast (I love doing my own waffles). Raj the front desk manager is really helpfull, he checked us in early and even upgraded us. It was our second time to this place and for sure will go again in a near future.

As a regular guest at the Econo Lodge, I always have a great stay! I work in NJ and live in MA, so I stay there every week as my home away from home. The staff is always so nice and courteous, especially Raj, who always greets me with a welcome smile! The rooms are very quiet, comfortable and always clean. There is big parking lot with plenty of parking. There are numerous places to eat nearby, from fast food to good restaurants. It is also just a 10 minute walk to Metlife Stadium.

Hotel is nicer than what you would think than when you approach it. As a vendor at a 3 day event in the area it was much better than paying the way over priced placed less than 5 minutes away. Raj checked us in early and upgraded us! Very pleasant and thoughtful. The only thing we didn't care for was the breakfast. The bed was comfy and everything was clean.
