Owner description: Sunset Beach is one of the East Coast's most unique beaches. Voted Top 25 beaches by Trip Advisor in 2013, Sunset Beach is located at the very tip of South Jersey and the end of Sunset Boulevard. Sunset Beach offers an unobstructed view of spectacular sunsets over the waters of the Delaware Bay. Atmospheric conditions caused by the inter-action of sea breezes across the bay waters create spectacular colors as the sun sinks below the horizon. For over 50 years just off the coast of Sunset Beach lies the concrete ship "Atlantus". Thousands of visitors come annually to view the cracked, weather beaten hull and watch the sunset over the remains of the ship. Each night from Memorial Day to September 30th, about an hour before the most amazing sunsets, stop by Sunset Beach for our Evening Flag Ceremony. Every flag flown at Sunset Beach since 1971 has been a casket flag honoring a United States Veteran. A particular veteran's casket flag is flown every day. During the ceremony, before the playing of Kate Smith's God Bless America and the National Anthem, a brief biography about that veteran is read. As the flag is lowered before a setting sun, taps plays and concludes the evening ceremony. Don't miss out on this moving and emotional event during your time in Cape May. After a day of fun on the beach, searching for Cape May Diamonds, watching the dolphins jump by the Concrete shipwreck, and participating in the evening flag ceremony; take some time to experience a scenic round of miniature golf. Browse a selection of unique gifts in one of our three gift shops and see why Sunset Beach is rated one of the top shopping destinations on the east coast. Be sure to grab a bite to eat from the Sunset Beach Grille.

Like most of the other reviewers, we love Sunset Beach. Every summer, my family and I take a day trip to the beach with our first stop being Sunset Beach! We always have lunch at the Grille (delicious grilled cheese!) and then poke through the stores and enjoy some time looking at the sunken ship. There are always really interesting things for sale in the gift shops and we enjoy our stop every year. This year was the first year I saw the sunset ceremony - very touching and patriotic. Definitely recommend at least once to any visitor. Lots of people bike down here, but there is also free parking.

Note: said family (teens) though we are not teenagers anymore!

This is one of my favorite places in the world. Been visiting this spot since I was a child and I still visit every year. The combination of the history of the concrete ship, the Cape May diamonds, the sunset, the flag ceremony and the shops makes it a must see for all first time visitors to Cape May. Trust me, your blood pressure will go down the second you get out of your car and experience the gorgeous view!

I come to Sunset Beach every year and do the sunset ceremony. This is the place to be to watch the sun go down. The most southern NJ point is on this beach. It is also a fun place to go if you love shell collecting.

The gift shop is right off the beach and has a tremendous selection of shore gifts and sundries.

There is also a mini golf course right there.

We love Sunset Beach gift shop! It is full of very cool and some unusual items (like Cape May diamonds.) As the name implies, the view of the sunset is fabulous!! The flag ceremony right before sunset (in season) is something that everyone should experience at least once!!!

This was probably the best gift shop I came across after shopping in Cape May, Stone Harbor and Rio Grande. They are friendly, affordable and have a lot of variety. Go to sunset beach to look for Cape May diamonds. The opaque looking rocks are diamonds that just need to be polished. Beautiful beach for sunset pictures!
