“Work in Progress”

Jessie Creek Winery
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Stop on a Saturday as the first of four winery visits. Had the place to ourselves. One of the owners was our host at the tasting bar and we met his partner before we were done. Easily the best conversation of the day but the wines did not impress. That said, we had low expectations since they have only been in business a few years. Their white wines were drinkable but the reds need a lot of work. Perhaps several years of maturity in the vines will help but then, after three other winery visits on the same day, we never did find a drinkable red wine so maybe not.

Overall, worth a stop if you are in the area but don't go out of your way. We'll be curious to stop again in a few years to see how things have progressed.

My friends and I were the only ones here on a Sunday. It's a relatively new winery, we had a private "tour" by the owner. There is an inn associated with the winery but we did not get to visit. The most unusual wine was their cranberry - loved it - the others need some more work! But it was fun - for $5 tasted 5 wines and took home a glass. It was a nice time and worth the trip.

We stopped at this winery as one of three others one day. We would rank this in the middle. The wines were ok, not exceptional to our palates. The young girl pouring wine was very nice although probably not the most knowledgeable. The price is reasonable and you get to keep the glass. Not a large tasting room and kind of blandly decorated.

They have good wine but the two men that run the place seem overwhelmed with handling a crowd. They are new but seemed to lack professionalism; maybe from being so new.
