Visited the zoo in early October and it was fabulous! The zoo is free (they just ask for a free will offering at the gate & you can pay what you can afford. This also includes parking). My husband and I went on a weekday and it was not too crowded. The zoo is very, very kid friendly, they have picnic tables and a playground. The zoo also sells refreshments and some food items if you did not pack any. There are many, many photo opportunities of the wonderful animals. We especially enjoyed the baby giraffe (born early Sept) and the baby bison (born the end of Aug.). Also of interest is a white deer, the red panda and the snow leopards. So worth the visit with or without children.

Cape May Zoo is free with a suggested donation which they collect as you enter the park while still in your vehicle. Which is not bad, the zoo is great and worthy of donations as they do a great job. The zoo is kind of small and adults can easily go through it rather quickly but at the same time it is bigger than you might initially think. There are also trails through the woods and picnic areas littered throughout the park for picnics.

The only down sides are it is often troublesome to get into the park. Due to their collecting donations at the entrance traffic tends to back up into the intersection and main roads with cars trying to get into the park from 3 directions. Once you're in it may take a bit before you find parking which can get competitive with other cars and pedestrians cutting in and out of the roadways.

Once inside the park be prepared for plenty of huge strollers and parents with an entitled attitude. They will think nothing of constantly cutting in front of you, leaving their strollers strewn all about the paths and having their entire families walk side by side blocking the length of the pathways as they constantly stop to snap photographs. They're not really there to see the animals, more to just snap a picture of their kids with every enclosure in the background. As long as you have the patience to deal with entitled parents who act like they own the zoo, you'll be fine. If not, you'll be wishing there were more park staffers asking those parents to respect the other visitors.

Other than that it's a great zoo and when you're done you'll wish there was more to see. Maybe someday they'll add on a big expansion.

If you have never visited here while at the Jersey shore you are missing out on a lot. We took our granddaughter here while we were on vacation at the shore and had a very enjoyable day. The animals seem more active if you go in the morning rather than the afternoon.

Get there early and enjoy the zoo before it gets really busy. If it is cloudy, it is great- not as hot. My boys love the safari so we head straight back there and work our way forward. This zoo is free - donations very welcome. Only thing to be aware of is you cannot bring in snacks - we usually snack in the park/ playground just outside the zoo entrance. The parking is free. Bring your stroller or rent one. It's a nice 2 hour outing for our family. They also have a train ride, rock wall, and carousel outside zoo for a few bucks in season. We haven't done those because we're always ready to head back to the beach!

The Zoo is very kid friendly. The above the animals boardwalk for viewing many of the spiecies is excellent. Reptile and bird house displays are great. Entrance fee is a donation and includes parking. Play park outside Zoo. Get there early if visiting during summer months.
