We loved everything about The Virginia Hotel - from the decor as we entered to the friendly, professional welcome. Our room wasn't ready, which we expected since we arrived early. When we returned, all of our belongings were in the room so we could just be at home. The room was a bit small and it did not seem that way because it was set up well. The one "downside" was was the Direct TV which we were not familiar with. We really enjoyed our stay here.

I had the pleasure of visiting The Virginia Hotel this past weekend, a visit that was postponed from last year due to Hurricane Sandy. It's a lovely hotel, with a very patient, friendly and professional staff. The room was spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. Cocktails and snacks on the porch are perfect after a day walking along the beach and shopping. Although I didn't dine at the restaurant, it was very busy all evening. Glad I had the opportunity to relax and listen to the piano player. We were particularly fortunate that the weather was so perfect. And fortunate that we were able to see a show at the Cape May Stage Saturday evening - a perfect venue for intimate, thought-provoking theater. I highly recommend Cape May in September generally and The Virigina Hotel particularly.

It was our second visit to The Virginia Hotel and we plan to return every September! So close to the beach and in the most lovely part of town. Beds are very comfortable and the Hotel provides chairs and towels for the beach. Also a delicious breakfast is delivered to the room. The coffee is excellent , the first thing you smell when you wake up!

My husband had a wonderful stay at one of the cottages. The entire staff was friendly and it was the quickest check in/out we have ever had. We loved the location, the room was adorable (we had the Ocean Room). We enjoyed drinks at the bar in the evening and opted to have our breakfast delivered to our room and everything was very good. We will definitely be back. It was a great place for a romantic get away.

Room Tip: We had the Ocean Room in the Red Cottage and it was adorable. We had an Ocean View and our own priv...

I stayed at the Virginia on a Saturday night and was given a horrible room that was practically in the kitchen. No joke, the room smelled like the fryer from the kitchen and we heard dishes clanking until well past midnight. Of course our room could not be moved when we called to complain.

In a "luxury" hotel I've never had such a ridiculous experience. It's a shame because it's such a nice hotel in other ways - I guess just not to sleep at! Come for a meal, skip the sleepover (unless you don't plan to sleep!!)

This charming hotel bends over backwards to please. The reception girl was sweet, very pleasant and helpful. Our room no. 101 on the rear of the first floor was large, clean, quiet (street-facing rooms can get lots of traffic noise) and everything worked. A walk-in closet kept the clutter out of sight. the sofa and coffee table were convenient. Our room package included $110 voucher for the in-house Ebbitt Room, where whe had an excellent dining experience. Highly recommended. Past bad reviews must have been from previous owners. They own several properties in town, the Rusty Nail is an excellent place for lunch. The free wifi had spotty reception in our room, occasionally disappearing while in use.

Room Tip: Our large room #101 was on the first floor in the rear corner, away from the occasional delivery tru...

This was the first time my husband and I stayed overnight in Cape May and I picked a winner.
My first thought was WOW and my last thought as I left was PERFECT. The Virginia is an upscale boutique hotel that still has all of Cape Mays charm. I used tripadvisor before I made reservations and the reviews were very helpful. The rooms are large and very pretty, the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel has very modern touches and décor but still has the charm of a grand old house. We loved the veranda for drinks and the complimentary continental breakfast brought on a silver tray to our room in the morning. The location is perfect, too. Less than two blocks to the beach (no need to bring towels or chairs! the V has lounges, towels and umbrellas for guests) and one block to Washington St. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: There are three floors in this hotel and no elevator. Our room was on the North side of the hotel an...
