My husband and I booked the newly renovated Meridian Suite for our Anniversary weekend getaway. This suite has just been competely redone, and it's gorgeous! A beautiful, clean bathroom. A functional, modern kitchenette, great living room with a couch and chair and flat screen TV with two sliders out to the balcony. The bedroom has gorgeous new bedding, with the bed facing the ocean. What a better way to wake up than listening to the waves crashing on the beach? It was too early in the season for the pool and restaurant to be open, so we weren't able to enjoy those as well, but look forward to going again so that we can.

I highly recommend this hotel to all people, young and old, with or without families. The Meredian suite is perfect for a small family, or just two of you!

A friend and I stayed here while visiting Cape May for the holiday candlelight tour. The staff was very friendly and helped us find our way around town in off season. The two-bedroom efficiency was on the fourth floor with a great ocean view and balcony. It included a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, coffeemaker, and all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils we needed. There was also a safe in which to store valuables. The room was clean and comfortable, the maid service prompt, efficient and unobtrusive. A continental breakfast was included on weekdays, and a discount at the attached restaurant was honored on weekends. I look forward to staying here again.

My friend and I wanted to get away from New York City. We hear
people talk all the time about Cape May. Well now we wanted to see it for ourselves; the effect of the ocean waves, good seafood, and friendly people. We did some research over the Internet and eventually found the Montreal Inn. We did not stop there however, and after reviewing other places we came back to www.montreal-inn.com The directions to the hotel were easy, the check in was easy, and peace of mind was easy. We checked into one of there hotel-type rooms which included a balcony facing the Atlantic Ocean. We opened the sliding door to the relaxing sounds of the ocean waves feeling the late Fall breeze of November season. In the morning we walked down to Uncle Bills Pancake House to a great tasting breakfast. Folks! This is not a short story. It’s a great place to spend time away to collect our thoughts and leave everything behind.

2-room suites rather small. Decor is mucho drab. The mattress is marlbe-slab hard.

Excellent location w/adequate parking. Fine balconies with ocean views for most units. Seems balconies aren't to be used to step outside to enjoy a smoke, though no signs are to that effect. ("fine print" on registration print-out).

Staff friendliness/helpfulness varies.

We stayed at the Montreal Inn for 3 nights in October 2008. The reason for booking this hotel was the reviews here and the price. For the price you pay, even in off-season the room and the location are a good deal. The hotel is located right across the beach and is a short (10 min) walk to the main Washington street mall area. The room was comfortable but to be honest, from the description on the website I expected a more spacious room. They call it a suite and it does consists of two very small rooms. There is a tiny kitchen area and a VERY SMALL bathroom. But for the price, its still a good deal and the size is a small small factor for me.

Negatives: the staff are very helpful. The cleaning staff literally spent 5 min cleaning our room and that too after we had to go in search in of them. The beds were made very badly and they never dusted anything. The bathroom was left untouched. The staff at the check in were also extremely discourteous. We went during off-season and checked out Monday. We asked if we could leave one hour later than the check in time, and they made a big fuss saying that the cleaning staff needed to come in. This was just a lie because in the 3 days that we stayed there, we had to go in search of the cleaning lady only then would she clean and that too after 3 pm. Not sure what their problem was...

Oh, the restaurant was very erratic, they didn't have any fixed time hen they were open so we ended up eating in town a lot. They give you discount breakfast vouchers but we could only use it one one day because the restaurant was closed the other two days.

I would recommend this hotel but you should know what you are going in for - its cheap, the location is good buts its a complete barebones hotel, don't expect to be charmed. You'll be lucky if you're just comfortable and the people there are polite.
