“Perfect getaway”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Humphrey Hughes House for 4 nights and it was wonderful. We stayed for the Fourth of July weekend, and although the town was completely packed, you wouldn't know it by the calm atmosphere at the house. We chose the Dragon Fly room, which was perfect - it was roomy with a big closet, the bathroom was a decent size, although the shower was snug - but given the fact that it's an older Victorian, I would expect that. Breakfast was served on the porch, and it was by far the best meal of the day. The ladies on staff were extremely accommodating, as were Terry & Lorraine. We arrived at the house at 11am, hoping to just peek around and not expecting to check in yet, and Lorraine greeted us and told us our room was ready! The porch is perfect to relax, read a book, drink your coffee (or whatever you drink) and just relax!! Beware that there is no parking on-site.. which isn't really necessary as you are such a short walk to the beach and town! We also rented bicycles to travel a bit farther. Cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Dragon Fly room, which was one of the cheaper options and it by far surpassed my ex...

My husband and I just returned from our cape may getaway and had the pleasure of experiencing the humphrey hughes house.a lovely Victorian home that is wonderfully located close to beach, shopping and restaurants. A big beautiful airy front porch welcomes you to relax and sip on a lemonade while nibbling on delicious home baked cookies.our bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Cleanliness is a must for me and this B&B was clean and inviting.we definitely will return to Cape May and would not hesitate to stay here in the future.

We would like to tell travelers that this Bed and Breakfast was exceptional. From the time we arrived until the time we left we always felt like we were at home. Even if our furnishings were a bit older than us! The innkeepers, Terry and Lorraine, were very helpful and kind. If you needed anything they helped you out. If you wanted to do your own thing they provided that also----the feeling you were part of the whole!

If you want a great weekend with great breakfasts pick this wonderful Cape May bed and breakfast. Close to everything, just park the car and relax. After all isn't that what a vacation is supposed to be!

I would recommend the Humphrey Hughes House as the place to stay when visiting quaint Cape May!

My husband and i needed a getaway and decided to visit one of our favorite NJ beach towns, Cape May. We always enjoy B&B's and this trip chose the Humphrey Hughes House. We will definitely make this our choice for the next visit. The house itself is a true B&B, the furnishings are gorgeous and the place is immaculate. They rooms are spacious and comfortable. The wrap around porch is also fabulous to enjoy breakfast, read a book or watch the people. The location is only a block from the beach and beach towels and chairs are provided. Terry and Lorraine are wonderful hosts and the breakfast provided is delicious with lots of variety each day. You won't go wrong with this choice.

The HHH has delivered exceptional experiences through their hospitable services during all of our many stays. Not only does the Victorian decor fit perfectly to Cape May's historical nature, but the Inn overall is so well kept and maintained in the cleanest manner. Each breakfast at the HHH is just as delicious as the last; from the stuffed french toast to the fruit salad garnished with fresh mint, it's all amazing!

We recently stayed at the Humphrey Hughes House to celebrate my birthday. With so many places to stay in Cape May, we chose the Humphrey Hughes House due to wonderful review on Trip Advisor and it's location. It is half a block from the beach and a few blocks from Washington Street, with all of the shops and restaurants. We parked our car when we arrived and never had to move it until we left. The breakfast was amazing, especially the french toast, and the room was beautiful and very comfortable. I would love to return and it was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday with my husband.

Cape May is one of our favorite towns and now the Humphrey Hughes House is a new favorite place to stay. The owners, Lorraine and Terry, made us feel welcome during our whole visit. Our room (Grandmom's Nook) was delightful, actually a two-room suite: bedroom and sitting room -- how nice to have a little extra room to relax. We were on the third floor (no elevators) and had a little view of the ocean from a window; it's just a block away. The bed was king-size, high off the floor, and very comfortable. The rooms and whole house were clean as can be. The linens -- bed and bath -- were extra fine. Breakfast was served on the front porch so we had a view of the ocean. Portions were so generous that we had muffins and scones to save for lunch. The corn frittata and blueberry pancakes were delicious. There were always snacks and drinks on the side porch -- a welcome treat after bicycling around town for the day.

Room Tip: Grandmom's Nook, third floor, two-room suite -- lovely and charming rooms.
