“The Perfect Bed & Breakfast”
Reviewed August 9, 2006

For years, my wife has wanted to go to a Bed & Breakfast Inn. This past Mother's Day weekend I, along with the children, decided to surprise her with a weekend in Cape May. Being our first time, we were very impressed with the experience. Fred and Joan were awesome hosts. They made us feel right at home. Every morning, we enjoyed a very nice breakfast with conversation with our hosts and other guests in the diningroom. We stayed in the luxury suite w/private bath and porch. The Ginger Bread House is one block from the beach and a short walk to the shopping area. Our children (7 & 11) and ourselves really enjoyed the whole experience. I highly recommend the Ginger Bread House for a great stay in Cape May.

Fred and Joan are great hosts. They really made us feel welcome. The food was delicious and the rooms extremely clean.

I would highly recommend staying here especially for first time visitors. The location of this B+B is great for anyone who would like to spend their vacation walking to all the main attractions.

We want to thank Fred and Joan for their great hospitality and another thanks for being able to take my wife and I on such short notice. We had a very pleasant stay and already are planning a return visit for next season.

The house is in beautiful shape and in a great location relative to the beach and other Cape May attractions. Find parking was not easy sometimes, but you learn that having to walk around in Cape May is not a bad thing at all!!

Wonderful first experience to Cape May. Fred and Joan are wonderful hosts. Once I figured out the parking we were all set.
I strongly recommend a stay at the Gingerbread House. It is close to the beach and all attractions. You won't be sorry you stayed there.

This was our second stay and it was as pleasant as our first visit. Joan and Fred are great at what they do; making you feel right at home. They take great pride in their business and it shows with the fantastic way they take care of the home.
Even staying on the 3rd level and sharing a bath; which made me leary at first was a pleasant surprise. They have rooms with private baths too. There is even an outdoor shower; which I love and there are no cobwebs in it and it is as clean as a whistle. It is cleaner than some indoor showers I have seen. The location is super convenient. Don't be concerned about the parking it is a half a block away from the beach and a couple of blocks from the center of town, so you really don't need your car to drive anywhere. There are a lot of great restaurants and shops. Take a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Cape May is a great family resort town. There is action if you want it or a sleepy, relaxing seaside town if that's what you seek. Fred and Joan will make you feel like you are staying with friends and go over and above with their knowledge and attention to detail. I loved Joan's honesty that the bed was smaller than a typical queen (and it was) but having a television in a bed and breakfast was a treat. Fred's workmanship is seen throughout the house and he is a true craftsman and is happy to chat about his projects. These folks are like old friends from the day you meet them. The location is quiet at night while still only a block from the beach. Off site parking is easy enough to find and you don't really need a car so you can just leave the car for your trip. Go see these accomodating hosts and DO NOT miss the delicious homemade lemonade and cookies at 4PM!! Thanks- Gino & Erica / Bergen County, NJ

Our search for a Bed & Breakfast in Cape May started on the web. We found the Gingerbread House to be as advertised as a well maintained B&B with the hospitality and surrounding venues to make the two day vacation a success. The rates were competitive but certainly worth the experience. Joan and Fred provided us with suggested restuarants in the area and even provided their own special list.

Although the house was fully booked, we were only aware of others guests during breakfast; a well maintained tight house. Access to the house from the beach was about 1/2 a block and the rear exterior shower served us well.

Although we needed to depend on free block parking; you only need to find it once; everything is within walking distance.

Book now before we secure another weekend.
