After reading their brunch menu, we were very excited to go to Sunday brunch. However, when we got there, not only had they run it of half of the buffet items, half of the other items advertised on their website were not being served. When we politely asked our waitress about why they were not serving the dishes we had specifically come for, she was very rude and did not even attempt to find out if the kitchen would make us what they had advertised was available. None of the staff seemed to know when they stopped serving brunch, if they would indeed refill the empty trays of breakfast, or when they would start serving alcohol, even though my friend had called the night before to make sure they would be serving alcohol before noon on Sunday. All in all, the experience was frustrating, and we left hungry. If we wanted cold cereal, we could have stayed home.

Have eaten here a few times off season as part of a hotel package that includes dinners & breakast buffet. Hemingway's has some great and I love that you can add scallops, shrimp to an entree for a small fee. French onion soup delicious & their specialty salads are divine. Bar service can be very slow. Wait staff hit or miss, Breakfast buffet is very nice also, small but good. We go back every oct

A very typical hotel dining room that was nicely improved by the huge windows overlooking the ocean. The restaurant was filled with people who must have known old Ernest! It was a little misleading to get the half sandwich with the cup of soup, because this selection came with no sides as the whole sandwich described. The food was just OK.

Hemingway's offers a sandwich with fries and coleslaw for $6.50. Not bad. Now, if you prefer, you can get half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. Sound good? Well, I thought so, too. The last time I was there, I got half a sandwich, fries and coleslaw and the soup. I didn't mind paying extra money for the chowder. It's delicious and worth it. But this time all I got was half a sandwich, no fries, no cole slaw and was charged an additional $1.50 for the clam chowder. That is a big rip off. To give up the fries, the slaw and half of a sandwich for a tiny cup of soup and then be charged $1.50 for it, well, that's just outrageous. Will never go there again.

The breakfast buffet was very nice. Food was good and hot. Not a gigantic array of food, but nice choices. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit (nice and ripe), cheese blintzes, potatoes, waffles, etc. Servers very pleasant.
