This is a great place to visit. The tour is wonderful and very informative. A real introspective into how life once was and the Victorian architecture
. It is beautiful and the gift shop has a wide selection of nice gifts and mementoes of your visit,

What a delicious lunch we had (much more than a "tea) prior to visiting the Designer House just across the street. Dr.Physick was even giving a history of the times in Cape May to an adjoining group which we found interesting. from scones, to soup to tea sandwiches and dessert, it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

We toured this lovely Victorian mansion which once belonged to a wealthy citizen of Cape May. It was fun to see many of the items and furnishings used at that time.

Having seen a fair share of historic homes without necessarily a great penchant for them, I found the Physick Estate to be surprisingly interesting, and a definite recommendation if you're vacationing amidst inclement weather. The story behind the home's main resident - - an educated yet non-practicing physician, who was the son of the founder of modern-day surgery in the U.S. - - was particularly interesting, as was the effort of the community to restore the home to the degree possible, once it was destined for demolition; the updated-hybrid gas and electric chandeliers; and the kitchen stove, with its 19th century patent-imprint and instructions still visibly intact.
