Do yourself a favor and pay extra 50 bucks and stay somewhere else this place is a crappy. in every way yes it’s cheaper but if reserving in advance u can find same for a little more rate , hotel is dirty hasn’t been updated since 1969 we stayed on second level room 23 only the view was good room horrible , outdated furniture , dirty green carpet bathroom , sink from 1965 cracked tiles on bathroom shower, exhaust did not work at all bathroom Got flooded every time someone took a shower probably mold everywhere between the walls , staff Janice very rude and obnoxious, mattresses haven’t been changed since 1950 my teenage sons legs were hanging on the ground they just put mattress pads on mattresses and thought they fixed problem , not a penny has been invested into this place since the 60’s just because it’s a little cheaper they feel they can take advantage of people heard there were aunts in some rooms as well which I’m not surprised , check out is at 10 am which is absurd , and they won’t let you stay for a minute longer , someone should put a bulldozer to this place and rebuild it from ground up
lazy , cheap owners , who really don’t care about repeat customers or their reputation

While the previous reviews I've written were for a decent place to stay over the last several years the conditions at this motel have gone downhill. We've stayed in the garage/bungalow apartment each year. For the amount of money it's just not worth it, the only good thing is the view and proximity to beach. It's very dated with no change in the furnishings in the 6 years we've stayed there. This year infested with ants and told by general manager this is part of nature and staying at the beach. Well when the ants are in your bed and futon where you sleep and coming out from under the carpet - that's not part of nature. Any problems with the apartment if you report them to the office they cannot help as they will tell you it's not really part of the motel since it's over the garage and the actual owners will have to be notified to take care of whatever the problem is. WELL it's shown on the motel's own website as part of the motel. You can't have it both ways - either it is part of the motel or it's not. So, if you don't mind something that is dated and infested with ants (no matter what is done by an exterminator) don't stay here. Extremely disappointed!

Room tip: Don't stay here

This was our fourth visit to this motel. We stayed in the garage apartment.
From the day we arrived on Friday we found ants in room by balcony
Reported to Janet who said to spray
No other rooms available. On Saturday a nts were now on living room kitchen bed room and bathroom
Again response was just spray
Crystal manager owner said getting exterminator out and ants are part of nature and we should expect them.
By Wednesday entire apartment crawi d with ants. Now coming from under carpet and in couch not able to sit on balcony
Crystal again saying all part of nature
We were not offered another room not did Janet or Crystal offer to call around to see if other rooms available at other motels well Crystal you refunded one night of an 8 day stay
However you did not offer to pay for medical bills we now have to pay for the welts my wife suffered from the
bites. We will never go back and have filed formal complaint with better business bureau and chamber of Congress
Crystal also did not respond to us when we asked why we say ants upon arrival. This motel is in need of management who cares about their guests
I will not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Dirty bug infested and u response management when issues arrive. I took pictures but will not post them to this review. They are from the welts on my wife legs which again she needed medical attention when we got home
Wake up Crystal the comment ants are part of nature is not an answer.
You should not expect to be bitten by ants when staying at your motel whie on vacation

This was my second stay at The Buckingham Motel. It is right across the street from the beach. We stayed in a first floor room which had a little kitchen. Some things could be updated but I like the cozy, quaint old beach motel feel. Staff was great, we were given fresh towels whenever we asked for more. And the price is just unbeatable for the area. Love this place and we will be back.

Terrific location - right across from the beach - and that is the only positive for this property.
The owners have invested absolutely nothing to maintain the property in a long time:
- The room (#21) had a foul smell on arrival - like someone had cleaned fish in the room. I was completely blown off when I reported it to the desk. We kept the windows open as much as possible, but it hardly helped at all.
- Carpet desperately needs to be cleaned.
- Bathroom fixtures and tiles are broken, rusted and moldy;
- Room air conditioners are rusting apart and noisy.
- Window screens are torn (and look like they have been for a long time)
- No shampoo provided in bathroom
- 10:00 AM check out time is absurd for any season - I did not appreciate being scolded for checking out late at 10:30 on an off-season Sunday
- Office staff was rude - I had to wait for personal phone call to be finished before I could check in.

Room tip: Lots of other much nicer properties within a few steps for just about the same price
