Ate there last Friday evening. Party of four plus a toddler so we went early! We all tried to order something different. And everyone was very pleased. Their steak dish was the absolute winner (kudos to chef Michael) but the other dishes were delicious. The meal started with fresh bread. Dessert again a winner. Will definitely try to get back there next time we are in the area. But remember to bring your own wine if you want any with dinner. ;)

We dined at the Blue Rose after hearing all the glowing reviews. We were a little disappointed. First the good. The hostess & owner are friendly & attentive. The decor was pretty & they offer outside dining on the front porch. It's bring your own wine which is common in Cape May. The food was good and well presented. Now the bad. The wait between ordering & receiving your entrees was way too long. It took over an hour & half for them to reach our table. The quantity is more like a small plate but the prices are not. Also the waiter said to keep our used flatware between courses. This is unusual for fine dining. We hope that criticisms improve the issues that we encountered because the potential for excellence is there.

My husband, son and I looked on line for places to eat in Cape May. We selected The Blue Rose Inn for Sunday Brunch our first day. The Inn is a lovely place and the restaurant has out door dining as well as in doors and in an airy screened porch. Our brunch was first rate. My son had the wonderful yogurt Granola and hot berries (trying to eat healthy:)) I had an omlette that was delicious accompanied by wonderful potatoes. My husband had pancakes which had sour cream infused to make them light and delicious. He also had wonderful bacon and of course the potatoes. (We were told they were made with a drop of honey and sea salt.) The French Roast Coffee was wonderful. The meal was so delicious we immediately made reservations for Friday (our last night) My husband enjoyed a steak with a rub of cocoa and coffee (I of course had to try it ..amazing!) My son and I both had a crab cake entrée. Everything was fresh and superb. The bread was served warm with a wonderful baked cheese on top. Service was first rate! We saved room for dessert, the mousse served with ice cream tasted like a dark flourless cold torte yum. Our son loves crème brulee. It was topped with a cooked coconut. Definitely worth the trip!

If you'd like to enjoy a delicious meal in a beautiful Victorian home, then try this wonderful restaurant. This is our second visit and we were not disappointed. We took our 12 year old and her friend but be warned that this is not a place for picky eaters or poorly behaved children. Our meals were scallops, beef braised short ribs, roasted pork pappardelle and carrot agnolotti. The bread is a new item this year and wow, was it good. For dessert we shared lemon ricotta donuts and chocolate mousse. Everything was fantastic. And the service was great - attentive, friendly but not overbearing. The chef/owners father (also an owner) stops by your table to say hello. We remembered him from last year. Nice touch. Try this lovely restaurant.

The cooking here outruns the rest of the experience; decor that is fusty and some weird decisions on presentation (like scallops in a kind of canoe-shaped dish) distract from some of the best cooking in the area. But those scallops, lemony and oceanfresh, make up for a lot. Ditto the calamari salad appetizer and the papardelle with pulled pork.

Like almost all the good meals in Cape May you need to bring your own wine; this takes a lutt
