Good for: Bar scene
Dining options: Reservations
Description: Start with your favorite cocktail and half-price raw bar items nightly from 5-6pm in the cherrywood Pub. For light bites, sample the pub menu. In the dining rooms, enjoy early dinner specials from 5-6pm. The renowned Prussian Pearls and Softshell Crabs, in season, are the ultimate favorites. There are three dining rooms and the bar. In cooler months, two fireplaces are lit. The ambiance is comfortable and unpretentious, in addition to a caring, friendly staff.

My husband and I went for a Saturday evening dinner just the two of us. We were looking for something different down the shore so decided to give Blue Claw another try. The crab cakes were the highlight but everything else was tired. The service was slow, the pear salad very wet and not interesting. The dining room on the porch was dated and the view junky. We decided we would not return. At these prices we prefer the Washington Inn.

They are called "Prussian Pears." A few other restaurants have tried to steal the idea (and one even used the name). But there is no where else that has them down cold - literally. Huge Cape May Salts (Delaware Bay), pepper vodka, sour cream, onion.. and oh, the caviar! We have friends who fly in from Chicago when they need a fix - and the Blue Claw never fails to please.

The first time we walked in, we were in jeans - the Tudor House look outside doesn't hint at the formal dining room, the grand piano - not really jeans-friendly. But the staff sat us quietly where we could enjoy a good meal. And be introduced to the Pearls. That was about ten years ago, and we've been back often since. Well worth the drive from much farther than Wildwood or Cape May. Highly recommended by TMY's. Note that they're closed until St. Paddy's Day this year...

We to to Axelsson's almost every Friday. Between 5 and 6 they have half priced raw bar clams and several different oyster offerings.

My wife and I vacation in Wildwood Crest every year. One of several restaurants that we always visit is the Blue Claw restaurant, Located on the road to Cape May is this delightful restaurant that has continually provided a quality experience. The decor and service add to a very nice experience. We were there during the last week in July and had the same enjoyable experience.

We recently had dinner here to celebrate our and a friends anniversaries. The Oyster appetizer and smoked salmon appetizer were wonderful! For dinner my husband had the seafood kabobs which he enjoyed very much. I had the Fisherman's kettle which was served over spaghetti and every bit of it was great! Service was very slow, we waited almost 15 minutes just to have our table cleared of the dirty dishes. Prices were a bit high, but portion sizes may have justified this.
