Gecko's is excellent southwestern fare, along with reasonable prices. The chef knows what he's doing in the kitchen (and Gecko's has won many accolades to prove it). From the freshly made salsa and corn muffins with jalapeno jelly to the delicious cheese enchiladas and grilled tuna with pesto sauce on top of a sweet potato puree, it was all wonderful! It's BYOB, so remember to bring your favorite wine or beer. We ate on the enclosed porch which also included two resident cats. They were adorable and friendly.

Second time to Gecko's, they have a wonderful selection of SW food, good service, nice outdoor seating.

You can eat well for under $10 or you can get something for double that. The menu we saw on Labor Day weekend '08 was creative, New-Mexican-influenced, and difficult to choose from.

At our table we got the mole, the posole, and the "three sisters" quesadilla. The salad and roasted corn chowder (not creamy) were tasty, as were the pre-dinner tiny corn muffins and jalepeno jelly (sweet with a kick.) The mole was excellent but the sauce substantial enough to wear you down a bit midway, so I enjoyed sharing the plate as a contrast to the perfect quesadilla. The posole was excellent as well. Pay attention to the specials. The iced tea is brewed in the sun.

This is a small place, with the largest seating on the outdoor patio and an indoor room with about 6 tables. I went at 4 PM and got good service; there outdoor patio was about half full.

Great place for different food; BYOB.
Small restaurant with a very different menu located
on the back side of the Washington Street Mall. Very friendly service and a very good meal for a reasonable price, very casual. Recommended for couples, friends and older children, (say 16 & up) unless your little ones truly like something different. No hurry to turn the table, which is unexpected in a resort town. Try a few different appetizers and go with the specials. This is great place for dinning outside.
