After being disappointed the day before at Uncle Bill's Pancake House, we were pleasantly fed at the Mad Badder. Servings sizes were perfect, prices appropriate for a tourist area and located in the coveted Jackson St area. We waited for only 15 min on a Sunday morning. We recommend the Mad Badder and suggest avoiding Uncles.

we visit the Mad Batter each summer at least once for brunch in the garden room. In my opinion, much nicer space than the porch. Service is adequate and they are very nice about substituting ...I never get the home fries and they gladly switch for fresh fruit. My favorite dish is the Chesapeake Benedict(crab meat added to the standard eggs Benedict). It is a sweet summer tradition and we look forward to returning. Have been with a small group and with just my husband...we always enjoy.

We stayed at the Carroll Villa so it was convenient to eat there. The Mad Batter is known for its breakfast and many people came in off the street to eat there. Portions are too large at dinner and breakfast. I had a special shrimp, scallop, and ravioli dish for dinner, which was very good. For breakfast I had the French toast with orange and almonds, and it was also very good. The toast was quite thick and I would have been happy with half the amount. My Mimosa at breakfast was also very good.

We drove to Cape May on Sunday with the Mad Batter as one of the places we wanted to go for breakfast. We had been here about 5 years ago and had a fantastic time there on the porch, food really great. This morning our waitress did not even say hello to us, was not friendly at all, gave us 2 creamers for 2 cups of coffee. We took creamers twice from other tables. When we asked for more coffee the waitress looked right at the bowl with only one creamer and just walked away. We again got creamers from another table. The coffee was not hot on any refills, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict gave my husband intestinal problems all day, and my lobster omelet had no flavor. The food was WAY overpriced for the value, our two breakfasts coming to $38! We own our own tea and coffee cafe with a full service menu for breakfast and lunch served on fine china, tablecloths and gold flatwear, crystal goblets, and people come back time and time again because of the great food and most of all, the friendly and caring service. We just shook our heads that these waitresses seemed like we should feel so honored that we were eating there instead of THEM showing us hospitality. The waitresses need to get their noses out of the air, and realize that we are the ones helping them to make a living through our tips, and they certainly did not deserve the tip we gave. My husband even tried to engage her in friendly conversation and her attitude was " who are you to try to engage ME in a conversation?" This was unreal. We come to Cape May to support the restaurants and I see from other reviews that others have not been happy as well. Here's our advice to you... Stop resting on your prior reputation, and hire people who care about others, make sure the food is prepared correctly, or you will continue to have reviews like this.

Hello Pamelas Victorian.... I just wanted to start off by saying we totally agree! As someone who dines out on a regular basis that is one of the most frustrating and unacceptable things to have happen! A servers attitude and lack of responsiveness to your needs can totally make or break your experience! We apologize for your experience and would like you to email manager@madbatter to offer you a gift card. We hope that you will give us another chance to show you the hospitality and service we are known for!

This place is really pretty, and although very crowded, the staff works hard to seat you quickly. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. The prices were reasonable, the selection was good but my award winning buttermilk pancakes were tough.
