Description: Serving fresh simple seafood dishes here on Jackson Street since 1980. All our desserts are made right here each morning. Stop by the Chocolate Bar where we have the most delicious Artisan chocolate being made in the beautiful USA! Call for current hours. Our hostess is here at 4. We do not seat any children after 6pm - that is when we begin adult swim. Have fun in Cape May and thanks for stopping by!

There are more than one reason why Louisa's always seems to be packed (and you need a reservation): It's small and homey. The staff is friendly. The food is fresh and local (mostly seafood). Skip the tourist-y places around the corner and check out Louisa's instead.

Hi from Louisa! We are still small and homey and the staff is still as friendly as ever. Thank you so much for taking a moment to post a sweet review of our little tiny place. There are so many choices to dine in Cape May. Cape May has a great group of restaurant owners and believe it or not, we all do support each other and dine at each other's places. It is a friendly crowd! Tonight in fact we are serving an amazing local Mahi. Simply grilled. You come to the shore - you want a piece of fish! Hope to see you soon.

Louisa's is located right on the Victorian Mall. Very small, low ceilinged restaurant....I counted 5 tables of 2 and two tables with 4 people. The two seater tables have about 8 - 10 inches of space in between the tables, so you are very close to other dining patrons (no intimate conversations here!) They take reservations only 1 week in advance and fill up fast, especially for weekend dinners. The recording on the phone says they start taking reservations on Tuesday for the upcoming week and the hostess is available starting at 4pm. You aren't allowed to leave a voicemail. I wanted to eat there on Saturday so I called the Tuesday before at about 4:30 and had to make numerous calls until I didn't get a busy signal and got through to the hostess. I took an 8pm seating. The place stayed constantly full the whole time and there was a sign in the window "sold out" for that evening. If you want to eat here you need to plan ahead. The menu is written on chalkboards - mostly seafood with a variety of sauces. The nice thing about the fish is whatever sauce it's served with is on the side so you can use as little or as much as you like. Menu is a la carte with a list of salads and appetizers, entrees, and home made desserts. Portions are realistic so you don't feel overly stuffed and can actually "have room" for dessert. They are a BYOB establishment and don't take credit cards. Tables are painted with colorful ocean scenes, and walls are decorated with colorful sculptures and paintings. Since it's so small, there is a bit of noise with all the conversations and recorded music, but the food is well prepared and the desserts are spectacular. If you plan ahead and can get seating you won't be disappointed.

Hi and thank you so much for your detailed and very thoughtful review. You can tell that you are not a bot - that is for sure! We appreciate your honest appraisal of everything and we are so glad you liked eating here. We have been here now 32 years and Doug and I still make everything. We eat the same foods as you do at our staff dinners each night and we enjoy our colorful ocean-y tables too. We have some really fun new desserts since you were here - tonight we have the Dark Chocolate Hipster cake made with Jim Beam bourbon and it is baked in a jar. Everything still comes served with our own whipped cream - still unsweetened...after 32 years. Some things change and some things do not. We have tweaked the menu a bit but it is still TEENY tiny and still just a nice piece of fish at the shore! Hope to see you again.

Louisia's restaurant is a small restaurant located off the Washington Street Mall. I think it is one of the best restaurants in the area. The menu, which consists mostly of seafood, is always delicious. The desserts are homemade by Louisia herself, and are always delicious. The restaurant is small and has approximately 10 tables. You must call in advance to reserve a table. Of all of the restaurants in Cape May, I think it has the best food and nicest staff. We always enjoy going there.

Hi and thank you for waiting so long for me to post a reponse. We love that you know that I make all the desserts and we are so happy that you said such nice things about our staff. They are among some of the most hard working and wonderful people you can imagine. They make every night so much fun for all of us. Hope to see you in Cape May soon!
