I have always heard so much about this place and this was my second visit. While we waited for seating, we have martini's from the bar and shrimp cocktails from the raw bar, which was a nice touch. We really didn't have to wait very long for a Saturday nite, but it was late. I wish now I would have ordered lobster but it was late, so I got the stuffed flounder instead. It was good but a little fishey and the crab had a lot of stuffing in it. The veggies were good. The table garlic bread was unbelievable. Our one friend had the fish special and it looked very good. Service was very good, very fast.

Our party of 6 arrived with excitement for a fun place and good seafood meal. It started off nicely enjoying cocktails on the schooner bar waiting for a table – as the place was packed. We were told to expect a 45+ minute wait, so we ordered some appetizers to enjoy with our cocktails. Within 15 minutes, our buzzer went off – so we moved to our table inside and were told our appetizers would be brought to our table. The start to the disappointment with the food began when the appetizers eventually found our table – cold fried calamari, everything else OK but nothing special. The BBQ clams were a bright spot.

It went totally downhill when our main meals arrived. The 2 $40 lobster tail orders were sent back – overcooked and tough. The claw meat on the 1.5 lb lobster were gummy, and tail meat OK but bland. The flounder on the Fisherman’s wharf platter was dry and not very good. It all looked and tasted like an assembly line, Red Lobster feel. The food was priced high with expectations of a high quality seafood meal – with a place this big and focused on moving tables, we should have known better.

For a place that brands itself on its Lobster, it missed the boat this Thursday night. We were all so excited for a meal that turned into a bust.

I had dinner here and I truly enjoyed it! Yes, there was a 45 minute wait on a Wednesday night, but it was worth it. We hung out at the upstairs bar until our table was ready. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The seafood was fresh and cooked well. We will be back on our next visit to Cape May :)

We have been coming here for 30 years -it is a massive restaurant complex on the Cape May waterfront with indoor dining rooms, large outdoor decks, a Schooner -America which is a floating bar - there is a great raw bar plus take out window, there is retail seafood and even a breakfast bar. I once heard from a food industry expert that the Lobster House is the 2nd busiest seafood restaurant in the country - I cannot imagine a busier eatery anywhere. Which brings me to the parking- your parking strategy will be more complicated than getting a PhD from MIT- a lot of moving parts. We were there on a 95 degree day at 5:00 PM. The raw bar is pretty much a free for all as is the beer and wine line. All worth it food is good and fresh , beer is cold and atmosphere is unbeatable. All in all this is a must stop.

We got tons of fish and shrimp to bring home. The swordfish was amazing. The shrimp were huge! We had a cooler with us already but they gave us tons of ice free. They do have some already prepared items.

We ate at the restaurant last time and it was great food. It is expensive but it was worth it!
