We spent a night at the Peter Shields Inn in March 2012. It is off-season in Cape May, so we figured that we would eat at the Inn. What a good decision!

The meal was really wonderful: the first courses (oysters and a seasonal green salad) were perfectly prepared and nicely presented. Our entrees (salmon and short ribs agnolotti were delicious. And to top it all, the desserts ( cinnamon creme brulee and sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream) was a fabulous finish. Attentive and pleasant service.
The restaurant is BYOB, so don't forget to bring your own wine.

Dining in an old mansion across from the ocean. Pleasant staff and decor.
For app I had mussels in a Thai broth. Very aromatic and tasty. Entree was a perfectly seared hangar steak over lobster risotto and with asparagus. Dining partner had a beet salad app and for her entree, Branzino filet with broccolini. She said the fish was buttery and flavorful. Desert was a creme brulee with fresh berries.
We went on a rainy, raw Friday night in February at a time when most fine dining restaurants are closed for the winter in Cape May; but this place was almost full. I then realized that this is a destination restaurant (and for good reason).
The price is on a par for a place of this quality. But if the cost is a problem, ask about the availability of their prix fixe menu. This is a "must-go" place for anyone who appreciates good food expertly prepared in a welcoming, pleasant setting.

The view is spectacular then as the sunsets the lights dim and it appears to be just the 2 of you...with this kind of setting they might slip on the food,But they don't!! wonderful for both the seafood lover and Land lover. You will find something to enjoy.

We spent News Years Eve here as it's an Inn and restaurant. The staff is so attentive and you feel like you live there. The food is superb. We enjoyed an amazing tasting menu at dinner and an enormous ful lBreakfast buffet. The atmosphere is subtle, yet hip and modern. The Inn also features a shared Living space for gursts to socialize with a balcony on the ocean where you can view the sunset!
