“The epitomy of Cape May on beautiful Columbia street”
Reviewed July 18, 2010

We have stayed at the Bacchus a number of times. The inn is an authentic property of the Victorian era, but the innkeepers have made sure the rooms are very attractive and comfortable, as is thie expansive front porch and nice common areas. The beautiful location cannot be beat in Cape May; walk to everthing, but on a quiet tree lined street and a very close walk to the beach.

The amenities also include truly delicious breakfasts served at two different times, beach chairs, bicycles, beach towel, etc. If you want to stretch the last day, you can go to the beach and come back to shower in the nice outdoor shower.

In addition to all of this, John and Lisa are wonderful caring hosts who want to make sure their guests have a great visit. They are always happy to help with ideas or tweak a food item for allergies, whatever it takes. We will be back, soon I hope.

This bed and breakfast is fantastic. Lisa and John are great hosts. They are full of energy and really help make your cape may experience delightful. The food is phenominal and the wine selection is great. This place is especially wonderful for couples.

Having tried a hotel last time I decided to venture back to the welcomming Bed and Breakfast section of Cape May. The Bacchus was wonderful, the Innkeepers ( especially John) make us feel at home. They offer everything you need to relax and you can always find interesting conversation on their front porch. Lisa provides a great breakfast twiked just for you. Located between the beach and town, you are only a few steps from where you want to be. You can not beat the personal touch of the B&B, you will not find it at a hotel. If you have not tried a B&B I suggest you do. Start with the Bacchus

My fiance and I decided at the last minute to book a long weekend getaway to Cape May, NJ to get away from the day to day grind of living in the city (Baltimore). We couldn't have picked a better place. It was both of our first times staying in a bed & breakfast, and quite frankly, we never want stay in another inn. John and Lisa were the absolute perfect hosts. They were more than accomdating with anything you asked or needed. Lisa cooked delicious breakfasts that alternately rotated each morning between sweet and savory. John was more than gracious as a host, always there to chat or help, and also putting out an incredible spread of wine and cheeses each day around 4pm. I can't think of a better way to come off the beach and unwind with friendly, likeminded travelers who were also staying at the inn.

The inn itself is beautiful and in the perfect location. It is just a two block walk to the beach and less than 3 blocks to many shopping and dining destinations. For any further excursions, they do have bikes that you can borrow.

I could go on and on; about the inn, John and Lisa, and the town of Cape May itself. However, I'll wrap it up simply by restating that my fiance and I are already cheking our calendars to see when it will be possible to return to Cape May, and more specifically, the Bacchus Inn.

Thanks again John and Lisa for an amazing weekend!

For my birthday my wife gave me a weekend getaway to the Bacchus Inn in Cape May. NJ. While we had vacationed numerous years in the past with our family normally by rentlig a house out in Cape May this was the first time we stayed in a B&B in Cape May and it was just fanastic.

Due to my wife's work schedule we didn't arrived until 2AM on Saturday morning but the owners Llisa and John were great about our situation. In addition to be great hosst the breakfasts that Lisa prepared were out of this world and the accomodations were fanastic as well. In fact we had a suite because our youngest went along and he thought his rooom was great as well.

The amenties that were provided were also great such as a daily wine and cheese hour in the afternoon, bikes that were complimentary as well as beach towels for use. They even let us use the outdoor shower on Sunday after we checked out and came back from the beach so that we could extend our stay.

I can't wait to go back again maybe even as early as this fall once our youngest is back in college. Thanks Lisa and John for provding us a little heaven on earth if only for a weekend.

This Bed and breakfast is fabulous, not only for it's location, great breakfast and accomodations, but also for the friendly innkeepers Lisa and John. They are the best hosts we've seen, working hard to make our stay in Cape May perfect. We've stayed there multiple times without ever being disappointed. They continue to maintain and upgrade the Inn so it's fresh and consistently good. I have recommended this Inn to friends around the world. Park the car and walk all over town, this Inn is midway between the beach and the main shopping area. Take a bike out for a ride, or chairs the beach, and don't forget to come back at 4 PM for wine, cheese and comfortable conversation with the other guests and Lisa or John, and maybe even one of their adorable boys!

We stay at the Bacchus Inn several times a year, and now many of our friends have also come to love this B&B! John and Lisa are almost like family and we have watched their family grow. Each room has its own special charm, from the larger and more luxurious to the smaller cozier rooms. We have stayed in quite a few of them, and have enjoyed all of them. The breakfests are always exceptional, but the wine and cheese hour is our favorite time to sit and relax on the front porch talking to new friends we've met during our stay. We always look forward to our next visit!
