“Wonderful As Always”

Been to numerous bed and breakfasts in Cape May and when we stayed at the Bacchus Inn a few years ago we had an amazing stay and have been coming back for a few years now. Inn keepers John and Lisa are great people that make you feel so comfortable. We look forward to afternoon wine and cheese on the front porch. Breakfast is amazing. We would never stay anywhere else in Cape May!

Room Tip: Room 8 is on top floor with a great spa shower. Private porch right off room is very relaxing if you...

So on a Saturday morning my wife looks at me and says we should go to Cape May for the night. We live in Northern NJ but had never been. She jumps online and does a bunch of research and finds The Bacchus Inn. We were only there for one night but rest assured we will go back. Every part of our stay was just great. The Inn is gorgeous and so well kept, the breakfast was perfect, we were met in the afternoon with a great wine and cheese spread. The owners recommendation for dinner Saturday night was exactly what we wanted. Lastly, the bed in the room was the single most comfortable bed we have encountered in any of our travels. My recommendation is....just go and say hi to John for us.

Room Tip: We took the room at the top of the inn...very large bathroom with a great shower and a door to a sma...

My wife & I have traveled, every summer, for the past six years, up from Richmond, VA to Cape May & the Bacchus Inn. Then we spend the rest of the year, and into the next, dreaming about our next trip to Cape May & the Bacchus!
Our first visit was so wonderful, thanks to John & Lisa, the hospitable innkeepers, that we decided to get married in Cape May County and spend our honeymoon at the Bacchus. John & Lisa were so thoughtful, they supplied a bottle of Champagne and a box of chocolates for our suite. (Thanks again, guys!)
We have always been more than satisfied with the service, the rooms, the food, the people we've met, and most of all, the innkeepers. The highlight of the day is the 4 pm wine 'happy hour' which takes place on the front porch. Sit back, as the soft breezes blow, enjoy the assorted wines , the cheese & crackers and good conversation. We've met so many charming couples over the years, and John always keeps the discussion going and the wine flowing!
John comes from a 'hospitality' background, as his father was a motel owner. It shows in his constant attention to detail, his never ending work to improve the inn, and his outgoing demeanor making everyone feel 'right at home'. That's exactly how we feel every year when we return to the Bacchus, like were 'right at home' again. You can't go wrong staying here!

Room Tip: The Bacchus is really two inns, the larger main house, on the north side of Columbia Ave, where brea...

As we were driving down the block looking for the Inn a little after 4pm, we knew we were in the right place when we saw John the inn keeper crossing the street with a glass of wine in his hand. The daily Happy Hour was about to begin! We've stayed at many B&B's and found John to be one of the most engaging hosts that we've ever encountered. He has a knack for getting guests involved in conversations with each other, during Happy Hour and even at breakfast. The inn itself was conveniently located, we walked everywhere. The breakfasts were delicious. The Piedmont room was spacious, clean, and quiet but with a very tiny bathroom and small shower. This was our first visit to Cape May. We will be back and would stay here again. We would recommend the Bacchus Inn to others.

We've just completed a second December trip to Cape May and have nothing but fond memories of the town and Bacchus Inn. Located only a few blocks away from the mall and restaurants and when you're done with the crowds there's nothing like a quite afternoon in the front room looking out over all those beautifully decorated victorians as well as the sound of horse carriages down the quiet street that will provide a fond memory guaranteed. Great place and great inn keeper. Don't hessitate to try the Bacchus Inn....you'll be satisfied.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet. Staying in the main house provides convenient access to the goodies in the din...

This was our first stay at The Bacchus Inn and it was wonderful. Our 1st time ever @ a B&B. The selling point for us from other Cape May B&Bs was the wine & cheese hour plus the free bikes/beach chairs and pool table. We were NOT disappointed. We stayed on the 3rd floor (Chardonnay Room) of the cottage, which is across the street from the main house. Our private bathroom wasn't in the room - it's a short skip across the hall...turns out it wasn't that inconvenient as they provide robes. We shared the floor with the Petit Syrah room which had their own shower. The 3rd Floor also has a rooftop porch but we preferred to hang out in the billiard room or on the front porch rockers when back at the cottage. Convenient location to attractions, shopping & restaurants. We used the bikes a lot as we biked to the lighthouse, the Lobster House for dinner and to tour the Physick estate. We walked around the corner to the beach to watch the sunset. Lisa & John are very welcoming and not intrusive at all and we had the pleasure of meeting John's Dad who told us great jokes. It was a great experience chatting up the other guests at breakfast (unique & delicious) and the wine hour (which is popular with the guests) since we were a little leery about staying at a B&B cuz we enjoy our privacy. Bottom line: We encountered many repeat customers and that's a telltale sign that this is a great place to stay in Cape May. Now we plan to be one of them!

Room Tip: 3rd floor front was very private and faces the street...you can see the folks gathering on the main...

My husband and I just returned from our second trip to The Bacchus Inn and even though we have only been there for the past two years, John the innkeeper, made us feel like old friends and not just customers. Many of the guests have been returning for years and I hope that we will be returning for many years also.

The inn is in a great location, it is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is great. We have stayed at many other B&B's and the afternoon refreshment hour is by far the most attended one we have ever seen anywhere.

It's a great B&B.
