“Lovely Beach House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

We spent four wonderful days in this beautiful house. The location is perfect, across the street from the beach and promenade, and a short walk to the shops and restaurants. The entire house is spotless, and well maintained. There are beach chairs and plenty of towels always available. Liza is a great hostess, and makes sure your stay is comfortable.

We stayed in the Bay Meadow room, which is bright and cheery, and decorated with white wicker furniture, and a love seat. The fireplace is beautifully decorated by Liza with shells and stones she has collected in her travels. The Bay Meadow does not have its own balcony, but we made good use of the front porch with its wicker rockers and bistro tables. We hope to visit again next year!

The family and I had a great time during our stay! Liza is very accommodating and helpful. She knows the area well and all her suggestions were the highlights for a first visit to Cape May!

The house is beautiful and right across the street from the beach. It was so great to be able to have coffee first thing in the morning, grab a seat on the front porch and enjoy the breeze. The house is also very close to many of the beach shops and restaurants.

The house is perfect if you love the beach. The beach is across the street, they have extra beach towels if you need them, they have some beach toys and chairs if you really need them, and the have a hose to wash off your boards.

We stayed in the Mariner room which can sleep up to 6... we had 5. The room was really charming and very very clean. The beds were super comfortable... even the pull out sofa which had an inflatable air mattress. It can get tight in that room with 5 people since there is a single bathroom but that should be expected if you have that many people. You should also be aware that they only have enough parking for one car per room. But there was plenty of street parking a few blocks away.

We absolutely loved our stay and we will definitely be back! Thanks so much Liza!!!

My husband loves cape may and for our 1 year anniversary I decided to take him to 931 beach guest house! It was just like home, we could come and go as we please with no hotel clerk in our face. It's not a bed and breakfest yet they still serve coffee, bagels, and other snacks. The room was very spacious with a little kitchenette. They thought of every detail you would need from wine glasses to bowls and a toaster. Ooo and the bathroom was gorgeous! A big beautiful shower and my favorite the claw foot tub! So beside all the amazing features of this place the inn keeper could never be replaced. She tried to accommodate ever need we could have and she did it without us even asking! Amazing would I recommend this place of course and I will stay no other place but the 931 beach guest house.

This was by far one of the best experiences I've had in Cape May. Beautiful property, right on the beach and walking distance to just about everything in town except the lighthouse. Breakfasts are simple, plentiful and most importantly delicious (bagels, etc.) and coffee was strong.

The room we were in (Nautilus) faces the rear of the property but was quiet, bright, spacious - queen size bed, couch/ottomans and kitchenette with stovetop, fridge and cafe table and decent size bathroom. Property is clean the host, Liza, is friendly and oh so helpful. Love her. And plenty of off street parking in the rear of the property. Will definitely be back and recommend this property to anyone visiting Cape May.

My family rented out 4 rooms for our family reunion / get together for my mom's 70th birthday. The rooms were great, A/C worked well, the fridge allowed us to keep some beers, water, and a few food items cold. We ended up using the living room downstairs as a social room when we got back from our dinners (of course going to sleep early enough and being quiet enough not to disturb other guests), cracking open bottles of wine and hanging out.

Liza was really helpful and enjoyable to chat with. When I needed to print out an online gift certificate for my mom, she allowed me to print from her computer rather. Thanks for an excellent stay!

Me, wife, and 16 month old stayed in the Nautilus room.

The house is a bit awkward with rooms on higher levels and ours tucked away from a narrow hallway. The floors are pitched/warped/misshapen/etc which kept our baby falling going over the ridge in the midroom. Felt like I wanted to fall out the window which was near the bed. The room was overall very clean. Towels, handsoap, plates, cups, pots/pans, utensils, fridge, microwave, small electric range, and dishsoap were provided. We asked for paper towel roll which Liz happily gave us. Mystery shampoo and bath gel was in a dispenser in the stand up shower (no bath tub). Room was a little beat up. Air conditioner (attached to the upper wall, controlled by remote) was cold but had a moldy smell. This is an inn, not a hotel.

The house is overall charming with well kept exterior. Beach chairs and towels are provided (the chairs are rusty). Parking in the rear of the house is available.

Breakfast is rather spartan with bagels set out with honeybuns/small muffins from a box. Creamcheese and "ok" percolated coffee at best. One day there was OJ and the other was grapefruit cocktail. This is not a bed and breakfast deal. You toast your bagel and go back to your room. If you want a nice breakfast, go outside.

Liz, the innkeeper, was available by phone. I called multiple times prior to coming. She was very nice and allowed a late checkout (mind you we stayed 2 nights and no one was scheduled for out room that day).

There are many similar places along beach ave. Next I would look for a bigger place, particularly with children. Price was good for high season, beach front.

She may be modest, but truly the innkeeper here, Liza, set us up for a great 5 days in Cape May. Upon meeting her, you could tell that she wanted to help out and that she cared about your comfort and stay. She had such a nice personality/good vibe and did what she could to allow us an earlier check in and a later check out. Our family of 4 stayed in the Atlantic room which was probably larger than we needed, but I wouldn't have given up the view for nothing. Upon walking in the room, I was impressed with the fresh scent and cleanliness. It is difficult down the shore to keep everything free of must, mildew, and rust and I've stayed at more expensive places further up the coast that didn't do this a fraction as well as 931 beach house did. It was meticulously maintained, in my opinion, and this is no small task. We all slept very comfortably. The location is the BEST! Across from the beach and walking distance to everything. For those who expect housekeeping services everyday and free breakfast, note that this is not really the case here. This is a guest house, not a B&B. We walked to avalon coffee everyday for yogurt, bagels, etc. There is also a kitchen in the apartment, so bring your breakfast if you prefer! We didn't use the kitchen--too many options close by--but that was our choice. Just be advised that that is the set up here. We wanted to check out every apartment the place was so lovely, but we were pretty sure our room was the best :) Coffee and drinks everyday from our lovely deck. Cape May is a great place for a family vacation.

Room Tip: I'd suggest the ocean view. Deck preferred.
