This was our second time staying in the Star Inn. You get the feel of staying in a bed and breakfast with the amenities of staying at Congress Hall. The beach amenities get a 10+ star rating!! There's nothing better then walking on to the beach and having someone set up your chairs and umbrella for you. No need to even bring a towel! This is a luxury that staying at the Star In allows us to enjoy. We stay in one of the larger rooms, which is nice to have the extra space. The reason we don't give 5 stars? There's two: our room faces The Boiler Room at Congress Hall, which is a night club. It gets very loud at around 11:00. The windowa are very old. and I think thicker paned windows would go far in helping to keep the noise out. We were a disappointed in our room service this year. It wasn't what you would expect when paying so much money to stay there. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Be aware that rooms that face the front of the building can be loud at night.

My family has been staying at the Star Inn motel for the past 15 years. Every summer, three generations spend one week at the Star enjoying the beach and all the amenities the Star Inn and Congress hall have to offer. This year was special because we were taking two tips to Cape May and of course staying at the Star. The rooms haven't changed much over the years and the service has always been good, with a friendly staff.

Unfortunately, this year our room was not up the usual standard and neither was the service. The kitchen countertop area was constantly covered with small ants, not ideal but not terrible. Much worse were the small roaches we found in the bathroom and in the kitchen area. Roaches in a hotel room that costs over $500 a night are never acceptable. And Star management, since you asked for this review and I hope are listening, sending a manager to the room to ask for "evidence" of the roaches and who implies we are lying, is never, ever acceptable.

We weren't akin for anything bit only notified the staff so that they could take the appropriate action. Instead, we were confronted by an accusatory manager, who did absolutely nothing and then left; and to add insult to injury, we were told by the front desk clerk, that our room would have to be inspected, before we checked out. Once again the implication being that we were for some unknown reason lying.

Needless to say, we will no longer be staying with the Star Inn or other Congress Hall properties. Perhaps they have become too successful or there has been a change in management but either way, this hotel commands very high prices which should in turn command verity nice, clean rooms with excellent service. Since this is no longer the case, we will be spending our hard earned money elsewhere.

Are you listening Star Inn management?

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

My wife and I enjoyed a long anniversary weekend July 11-14. We originally planned to stay at Congress Hall but they were full on the dates we wanted and frankly, we were not willing to pay the peak rate.

Reservations suggested we consider The Star Inn, "little sister" to Congress Hall. The rates were half of Congress Hall yet you get all the benefits of Congress Hall such as pool, beach and concierge.

Our room was ocean view on the second floor. We received a voucher for two anniversary drinks and a voucher toward daily meals at the Blue Pig. A nice surprise that offsets the cost of the room.

Front desk service at The Star was excellent and parking was provided on premises. (Valet parking is free at Congress Hall.)

We enjoyed wine and dipping bread on the front porch (we provided) while people watching and enjoying the ocean. And if course the beach and pool were thoroughly relaxing. And just about everything is an easy walk.

If you object to carrying your own luggage, climbing stairs or want that brand new hotel feel, The Star is not a good option for you. If you like the quaint old Cape May feel with Congress Hall amenities, you will love The Star.

If you cant stay at Congress Hall because you need a separate living area for a pull out bed, kids, etc, then Star Inn or Sandpiper is for you........The Sandpiper, also part of Congress Hall property, is slightly better in terms of bed, bathroom size, and general kitchen ammenities with full size refridgerator, etc......BUT.....As far as location, the Star Inn is best!!!! ......And slightly cheaper too!!!......The Sandpiper is an extra 2 - 3 blocks from the mall etc....Also, compared to the Sandpiper we had much more space on the balcony....We had a porch chair, and a cute porch swing...Because we were on the first floor, we also had a private backyard area..... A flat screen TV in the bedroom too, and though the Wi-Fi is free, it didnt work in the bedroom, only the living area....I find this in most places though......I did find the cute chandelier hanging in the living room very charming!!!..great that it was on a dimmer :) .A/C worked great, and great water pressure in the bathroom....Service was also great.!...We had a great stay, and will most likely be staying here again when we come...Mostly because of the separate area with the pull out bed, and the location to everything!

Room Tip: First Floor is great because you also get the tiny area outside in the back with chairs...

We truly enjoyed our stay at Star Inn. I would highly recommend. Very clean, nice modern cheery decor. Nice private sitting area in the back (It rained so we didn't get to take advantage) porch swing and rocker on the front porch. One block to the beach and the center hub to shopping and restaurants. Had a lovely breakfast at The Blue Pig Tavern across the street. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: We had the ground floor of the motel.

We love this place. It's quiet, small & is close to the beach. It is clean. The rooms are small but well maintained.Across the street is The Blue Pig. It has delicious breakfasts & lunches. The Brown Room & Boiler Room offer nice live music options. It's always a nice retreat.

Room Tip: No elevator for second or third floor.Just steps. Luggage carrying can be an issue. It has a Starbuc...

This was our 1st time at the Star. At check in it would have been nice to be informed that we were on the top floor of the Inn. No help with luggage was offered & there were 5 steep stairways to climb. After the experience of getting our things to the room we were shocked to find that the bathroom was not connected. Entrance was across the firescape hall & everyone had access. When using the bath you could not lock up your room. In both the room & bath the walls were so slanted that you couldn't stand up straight. Heads were bumped several times. First time we have ever checked out early. After spending the 1st day planning the number of times we could handle the 5 stairways, we were exhausted & checked out. The Star Inn is adults only but anyone who is middle aged should be informed of the challenges involved.

Room Tip: Rooms 6-9 are on the top floor & very difficult to climb to. Room 8 bathroom was seperate from t...
